Everton (A) | Game Postponed

From what I can gather our side, the issue seems to be that we were not involved in the discussion but just told of the outcome.

Thats not to say we wouldnt have agreed etc as its the correct call but if we were still planning for a game, with fans, security, staff, stewards and catering etc all preparung for matchday, totally unaware that you had reported the new cases to the PL and were discussing or requesting postponing the game then you can understand why we dont appear to be happy.
I don't think anyone is happy about the postponement but I'm sure all proper football fans agree that it is the correct decision.

Not surprised by the incompetence of the Premier League in handling this, and outrageous if they tried to force the game to go ahead when there is a real risk of asymptomatic cases travelling to Goodison.

Real amateur hour... They haven't really evolved well in the new professional era.
Everton deserve to be kept in the loop which doesn't sound like they were.

As if they haven’t been consulted.

if they wanted more information they could have asked in the appropriate channels.

the public statement is a declaration that they disagree with the decision

Yep. We have seen through this whole pandemic that the premier league and most clubs don’t give a shit about health. They disagree with this decision and that speaks for itself.

Yep. It is properly amateur hour from the Prem.

so its the premier league that kept you in the dark about the match might not go ahead ok i understand your point

City dont have to report anything to Everton, they have gone to the PL and held discussions. Its down to the PL to keep us informed as a member of its league and your opponents today. It sounds like this didnt happen which is shoddy from them to say the least.

I dint think Everton are getting at City, more the PL.

Everton could have said that in their statement and wished the City players and staff a quick recovery ;) But yes the premier league as normal cant do things correctly but at least made the right call in calling of the match

We, Everton, are requesting full disclosure of all information Man City provided to the Prem.

I don't think this is any slight on Man City by the way.

There should be full transparency around a Premier League match being postponed, with mere hours until kick off. That Everton haven't seen the information is really poor from the Premier League.
Agree 100%

I think they came to the most sensible decision but to not consult Everton is a disgrace.

Nothing surprises me about the people governing football. Totally inept.

Everton haven't stated that.

They're said public safety is uppermost and there should be full disclosure of the information - which is a legitimate request considering we were 4 hours away from a Premier League match with fans in attendance.

There isn't an issue with Man City here. The issue is with the Premier League.

Everton statement:

Everton Football Club regret the postponement of tonight’s match against Manchester City - not only for the 2,000 fans who would have been attending, but for supporters on Merseyside and across the world.

Our players were prepared for the game, as were both the team staff and everyone at Goodison. Matchday is the most important date in our calendar. And this was a big one.

Whilst Everton will always have public safety uppermost, we will be requesting full disclosure of all the information that Manchester City provided to the Premier League so the Club can be clear on why this decision was taken.
It doesn't need a statement like this showing Everton acting a bit 10 men and being all high and mighty. It sounds like they don't believe us and are looking beyond the real reason.
"...so the club can be clear on why this decision was taken".

WHAT????

Do they not realise that if we put a team out today some players could be positive or pass it on, its all about the protocol.

You ignorant fuckin morons.

Exactly. City have followed the proceedure of informing the league and from a safety aspect requested a postponement due to an outbreak at the club. The decision to call it off was correct but as 2 teams are involved in a game, the opposition who are actually at home and planning for it, should have been consulted so they can plan ahead
