Everton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Credit to Matheus Nunes, I thought he was good today defensively along with his excellent assist, He's not the answer at right back for the future but he offers so much more than Rico Lewis in that position.

We were really poor for 80 minutes of that game and we started to come alive when Kovacic and Doku got introduced, I thought it was substitutions that changed the game.

Very good result away from home at a tough ground against an in form Everton.

Let's keep going.
I think we watch different players Rico is a much better defender than Nunes!! Yes not as quick or strong but reads the game better and is a safer passer. As stated Nunes is an accident waiting to happen. Neither of then is what we need as a right back.

Seems to be a split in the thread between who watched it live at Woodison and those who watched it on the telly? Those there say we were great and game managing. Those at home bemoan what they thought was a poor City show.
I watched on the telly and thought the team were poor - barring Gvardiol and O'Reilly. Then we turned it on once Doku came on and drove at them, linking up well with Marmoush.

That seemed to get the rest going and there was only one winner from that point.

Bit of both really, I (at home) thought we controlled much of the game, without being inspiring for long periods. It looked like a mid table game until we eventually started pressing better for the last 20 minutes, then we dominated rather then controlled.

Great result and we defended well throughout. Not sure i’m seeing that Nico Gonzales is good enough for us. Can’t see him starting many matches next season.
Thought he was one of the better players and would have voted him my MoTM but didn’t think overall there was one

The 2 centre halves were superb - aside from that it was a drab game but we dug a result out. Doku far better as an impact sub that starting as proved today. O'Reilly, though not a full back, has added energy and mobility to an aging team. KDB was dire today and gave it away for fun.

Great atmosphere created by the Blues today and despite the usual superb view from the Lower Bullens I managed to catch a half decent view of both goals.

On to Tuesday and a huge game.

Crap performance for the first 80 minutes, but a great result in the end including one of those rare clean sheet thingies.
It gives me more hope for a top five finish, but limited encouragement for next season unless we're looking to ship out about five players and bring in a similar number at the tops of their games.
Nico O'R seems to be able to read the game well which bodes well for the future. I'm still not sure about Doku, but at least he tries things.

Lewis a better defender . What a joke. With Lewis we start 0-1 because of his shitty positioning and zero defending abilities !

We were far from our best, but "utter dross" ?

We were largely in control of the game throughout, without creating very much, then we exerted full control, our (lack of) press is largely the issue, once we properly applied it, we dominated.
Yes mate, we were utter dross.. completely devoid of ideas and painful to watch .. let’s be honest to ourselves

I thought we started really well first 15 then it turned to the usual slow predictable play which is easy to defend against. Forest will set up like that next week so expect more of the same.

Great unforgettable game; everybody will remember the blues defeating the Toffees on the very last Goodison Park game for us, with opening goal scored by one of our own.
Also great result.

A grinding match against an in-form team, we managed to control them, bare a couple of situations typical of the Moyseiah approach. Once they were trying to see out another draw, Kova and Doku introductions secured the vital three points for us.

Time for the blues to celebrate.
Time for the flappers and moan merchants to change their wet knickers, cry until next tuesday.

Now down the villa.
