Everton (A) Post Match Thread

Collymore said, per Daily Mirror: “If he thinks he’s going to turn up and outplay everybody in the Premier League, and that teams like Watford, Leicester, Bournemouth, Southampton and Crystal Palace are going to let his Manchester City side have the ball for 90 per cent of the time and pass pretty patterns around them so they can get a result, then he is absolutely deluded.

“In fact, he is beyond deluded. And if he thinks he doesn’t need to teach tackling or one-on-one combat in training then he’ll be going back to Spain with his tail between his legs.”

I had a fine chuckle re-reading this article.

That Federer always plays on the best courts. Like to see him on the old grass courts at Fletcher Moss. See how good he is then.

He was Shit. Beat him playing left-handed, wearing an eye patch and hopping on one leg. Was dead easy, just kept smashing the ball over the fence behind him until he was knackered from fetching it :)

Just watched the post match analysis on Amazon Prime, thought it was great, full on Bert fest. I would not have been happy if I was an Evertonian. It reminds me of the pro-Rag and dippers reviews we are used to being subjected to.
Even Ancelloti’s post match interview was probably 80% comprised of talking about city

If you take out their goal, we have dominated from start to finish. It was overall a very good performance, with a couple of sloppy moments thrown in.

When you compare our level, to our “challengers”, it’s not even close. We are levels above anyone else in this league and no fucker is stopping us winning the title.

Yeah but does it mean more?

I felt we were better than at our best, Cleavers.

It’s a credit to Everton IMO, who despite the score line, were largely excellent. Tactically spot on, the toughest opponent we have faced for some time.

We really had to work for those goals today, they were brilliantly crafted. No team, even with the best defensive discipline and intent, could have stopped those last 2. The movement, the passing, and the finishing (although Pickford should have saved the 3rd) were all as good as it gets for me.
The best coach we will come up against domestically this season, the cup tie will probably be a similar sort of game albeit Calvert Lewin may offer a bit more threat up top

A superb performance tonight against a top class manager, good side and great tactics. I've no doubt Everton will be pushing for a top 4 place at the end of the season. A result like this should hopefully give them fire in the bellies to go and give Liverpool a game now.

Tonight was probably the one where we look back on the season and decide that's where we won the title. They parked the bus, broke on the counter and overall had to be beaten by 3 great goals - there's little you can do against goals like that. For the rest of the teams, they now know it's a hopeless task chasing us. The only one who thinks they can chase us is Ole and he's absolutely deluded. He should be concentrating on Leicester and Eveton, not us.

I had Rodri as my MOTM but I was torn between him and Bernardo. Rodri seems to be clocking on to the fact that at 6 foot 4 and 15 stone or whatever, you move players out of the way. Bernardo was everywhere and his goal was superb. I didn't agree with McCoist on Mahrez as MOTM but his goal was off the scale and setup for Bernardo sealed the game.

I quite enjoyed the amazon commentary and thought Howe was interesting. He's been a manager in the PL and managed against City so actually knows what it's like when you're up against the best team of all time. I've always thought he was a superb manager for taking Bournemouth up in to the PL and keeping them there.

Great 3 points. Can't wait to CRACK OPEN THE CHAMPERS!!!
Well done mate, good post. Like you say Everton were set up right and gave it a good go but we went up a level in that second half and when we couldnt get that six yard goal we decided to have a go with a couple of crackers outside the box. We're so fluid and flexible at the moment it's hard to man mark us all game.

This season too soon for Everton, but with Ancelotti, they will get there eventually.
