Everton (A) Post Match Thread

He has basically been out for the entire season, And now at 32 Pep has to use him right. I would of loved to see him get minutes last night but can understand why he wasn't used yet, Maybe another week or two of full training before he starts getting game time.

I agree. It just creates a very interesting dynamic. He is our top scorer, and star striker. You would think the team are desperate to get him minutes and build to getting him starting.

But perhaps that is exactly what pep is looking to dispel, by having him as an unused bench player two games in a row, and not part of the squad even though fit and in training a couple games before. Almost a message of, we can cope snd we and be patient, without being reliant.

There will be a time though when he will need to win games for us with his individual strength, and he'll need to.build up to that

I thought Mahrez was good, involved in all our goals, with his brilliant long range curler the best of the lot. He stayed involved and his first touch and control is one of the best in our team which immediately gives him an extra split second to take it past someone. Occasionally he’s greedy but I see nothing that warrants so much ire on here from some.
Not a mahrez fan but would say his first touch is the best in world football, the only 2 in our squad that come close are foden and Bernardo.

On the We're Not Really Here podcast they were talking about trying to build his confidence up and partly him just being a good presence in the dressing room due to his personality. He might not be ready yet but this is a step towards him being ready. There's still a lot of season to go.

If I recall correctly was it true that Foden had never lost a match where he had started? If so is it still true and how many games is it now?
Great preformance agaisnt a team that had a clear plan. Excellence shone through in the end.

I would be amazed if he ever does a full 90 mins again, just think we will see little cameos off the bench.

Cleary a very serious injury and father time has caught up with Kun.
He will be a super sub for last 20 mins if we need him or to give others a rest, I genuinely think the way we play now Aguero will be down the pecking order.

Thinks it's he has never lost when he scores

Still no aguero, not even a few minutes with the game won and a substitution to spare.

Not complaining, just wondering.
I expect Aguero will be eased back in over the next few games but Pep is looking to the future. Last 15 minutes he moved Jesus out wide left & gave Foden the false 9 roll. He said last week that Foden is learning how to play that roll to add to the list of positions he can play.

If we look at the way Pep has handled Foden over the last two years, despite all the bullshine emanating from the RDAHMeedya about loans to this club and that club, I am sure that Pep will handle Sergio's return with the precision with which he handled the former.
