Everton enquire over availability of Ireland

I can't understand all this fuss over Ireland.

With the money we have and the direction of our project, we shouldn't be putting faith in players like Ireland. If all the rumors are true and we get Yaya, Silva, and Ozil (for argument sake), why the hell would you want Ireland?!?! There are loads of players better than him. He would do much better in a middle table prem team. Personally, I would want to see him do better in another club than sitting on our bench.

its a tough one........... dont want to sell him but dont trust him to turn up either. I just know if he went to an Arsenal type team he would be class but i think we just have to let him go.

He would be shit at Everton as their players have played out of their skins last season and with a lot of heart something that Ireland is blatantly missing.

You're deluded mate, or you just don't understand the game.

Players are suited to different styles and roles within a team. Last season he was played in a very withdrawn role in midfield and it restricts his play, Ireland is good at breaking from midfield and finding space to dictate a game not tackling and defending and winning the ball back. Its like De Jong playing up front and you saying he's shit because he does score 20 goals a season or putting Tevez in nets, you have to look for the good in players to get the best out of them not just critise what aren't their best qualities.

He's had one very good season in his time with us. Last season when played in his preferred role he was gash.

Look, he's a good player, no doubt about that. But he is nowhere near the player some on here seem to think he is. If he wasn't an academy product there wouldn't be half the fuss made about him.

Bang on.

Did you actually go to a game last season? He played a few games in the centre of a 4-4-2 or on the right hand side when Mancini first took over, I only recall one maybe two games at the very most he played in a free role or just behind a front man. He never had a chance to put together a few games in succession in his favoured role.

My point came across wrong. I meant when given the chance to play in his preferred position he still didn't shine.

I say again, please don't get me wrong. I think he's a good player. However, I don't think he's as good as many on here do, I don't think he's good enough for us now & i certainly don't hink he's good enough for where we want to be.

Mate, I agree with you 100% but have argued the toss with the same people time after time. I can't be arsed making the same points again.

Despite what you read on here sometimes, plenty agree with you.

He was shoved from pillar to post last season because he and Carlos Tevez occupy essentially the same place. His confidence took a dive.

He'll be a wonderful player elsewhere. I don't think it will be Everton as pretty much all of the traditional top four are sniffing around.

Well we'll agreed to disagree because I still think he can have a major impact on our future if he's given the chance, obviously if we get Silva that is going to restrict his opportunities but with his ability I have no doubts he can force his way back in at some stage. I just think we'll majorly regret letting him go if we do and someone can get the best out of him.
