Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Thought it was very David Silva esque. The pre-assist killer pass that breaks the lines. Used to be nobody better at doing that for us.
Absolutely David Silva esque. And Foden is capable of playing that pass. However our wide players aren't primed to make that run any more. As you say it's a killer pass but we just seem content to receive the pass out wide and outside the full back.

The ball was going out of play that"s why he stopped & appealed, stop making shit up...
So as a City fan you know more than Pep ? Fucking hell !!
He does it regularly in quite a few games. Stop covering for him about one incident. It was more than once in this game too.

I have now had time to watch the highlights on TV. I knew that Foden and Savinho had good games but I don't think I appreciated how good their passing was, particularly Foden's passes into Haaland. The passes were not just good they were outstanding. The last chance for Haaland was I think a free-kick from Cherki which bodes well.
Foden has been superb since the Club World Cup. With him, Donna, and Haaland in this form we can win any trophy. Just need Rodri and Stones back to seal it.

We’re an interesting watch at the moment, looked disjointed at times and looked sublime in others. I think the foundation is slowly but surely being built, and if others can start to contribute to the goals (well said Pep), we could be brilliant.

Nico O’Reilly is fucking superb by the way, I’ve been banging on about ‘getting him in his proper position’, but honestly, it looks like he already is.

But you have to play on and fight for the ball, stopping and throwing your arms up is not good, Doku gets kicked all over the park and gets on with it, if Pep were a City fan watching he would say the same thing
The ball went out for a throw in, Pep had a right go at the referee too

Annoying first half with seemingly an international hangover and possibly one eye for some on Tuesday but we got the job done and ran through the gears a bit. Another clean sheet and 2 more for big Erl. Exceptional assist from Nico

Only real negative is that I think people need to be a bit more patient with Savinho. Yes he shoulda done better with a couple of chances in the first half but Pep said he thinks Sav will get it right in the final third. He's only 21 years old and only just starting his second season in a new league

he's not going to improve if doesnt play look at doku not perfect but game time coaching and maybe last chance chat has improved him, he a young lad yesterday had defender on toast in first 20 minutes then stopped running at him did pep change tactic's i dont know but he left him on when making subs so

Maybe both like the same side on the left ? But I have a feeling once Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Cherki, get fit and back in the side, both wingers will have to come off the bench to get a game. Doku is the best out of the 2 and Bobb will need more time after that bad leg break, maybe going on loan.

Savinho has a great first touch and control, but needs that next bit of stuff Mahrez had, an end product
Just cut out the silly school stuff with the arms waving and turning off

Thought we played good. Bit scrappy first 45 but we are definitely moving in the right direction. Im confident we will be in the title race if we can keep the squad fit. Big shout out to O ' Reilly.

Really enjoyed the pass inside the Everton full back for O'Reilly to run onto at full pace. It used to be a great weapon for us particularly in the days of Sane and Sterling. Its an almost impossible task for the full back to defend. Too often now our wide players only receive the ball on the outside of the full back making creating a chance much more difficult. Not sure why we don't try and use this pass more often. We just don"t score the back post tap in goal that used to come routinely starting with the pass inside the opposite full back.
that's because it was Foden who played it. We are hugely reliant on Foden for creativity

I think you’re right. The structure is intact, it’s just the personnel and performing. You see glimpses, but…

I also like we have added some pace and power to our game. I’m not sure if that’s Pep2, or whether Pep1 brought him in to help cement that, but it’s a positive.

If his progression trajectory continues, he may well be in the centre of our midfield next season when Bernardo is no longer with us

What a nuisance that big number 9 was for them any defender cant enjoy dealing with him.
Although any keeper will like being in net against him. If he could score he would be a good striker for sure.

I’ve really started enjoying watching us again. After the treble I felt that the football became dull and it’s very refreshing to see us starting to enjoy the game again. It’s not perfect, but we’re clearly going in the right direction. Onwards and upwards
Absolutely. Last season felt like the end of something. This season feels like the start of something again.
