Everton (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

It was not a foul and the referee didn't blow his whistle. He is not good enough, and when he's doing stuff like that, it makes him look like a fool and a baby, The only reason he is in the team is because his control of a cross-field pass is very good, But after it's not good enough
Course he was being fouled, his shirt was dragged back twice.
I suspect Pep knows more than you.

3 points well earned.
I will say once Pep get his best starting 11 settled City will be a very good team, 3 or 4 players are out that start and are game changers, If we can pick up 3 points with a patched-up starting 11 then nobody should really care about the performance, Everton are always hard to break down and Moyes is good at setting them up to stink the place out

One point of frustration for me, Savinho's first touch and control is world-class, but after that, you close the curtains

But you have to play on and fight for the ball, stopping and throwing your arms up is not good, Doku gets kicked all over the park and gets on with it, if Pep were a City fan watching he would say the same thing

I missed the game and avoided the score all day so I could watch the full match replay on City+ at midnight, only for the result to be shown on that website!
I was really peed off!

I heard that too and thought it was damming.

The best Manager who is probably in the top 3 of all time greatest managers, alluding to the fact the international breaks have a detrimental effect on players and Club football!

Club football that basically pays for everything else.

When you are getting your team into a rhythm and have a very specific way of playing, an international break must be a real nightmare.

I hate the breaks these days but I do love the big summer tournaments. However, they are now becoming too big. Everything is just a money grab and there are far too many games and our (City) team’s players are having to play too often. I’d prefer quality over quantity but that is just a pipe dream.

The good news though is that transitional City seem to be heading in the right direction.

The ball was going out of play that"s why he stopped & appealed, stop making shit up...
So as a City fan you know more than Pep ? Fucking hell !!

I have now had time to watch the highlights on TV. I knew that Foden and Savinho had good games but I don't think I appreciated how good their passing was, particularly Foden's passes into Haaland. The passes were not just good they were outstanding. The last chance for Haaland was I think a free-kick from Cherki which bodes well.

Ended up a really good win, and a positive last 35 that fans could really get into.

Thought we saw a whole range of City. Rather drab in the first half, struggling with channel balls, to downright sloppy in the first 5 or 8 mins of the 2nd. Then suddenly we saw us being dangerous, quick and incisive.

I think we definitely still adapting. Bernie was a big difference maker to the balance of the side, and sadly Reijnders is still struggling a bit. Ultimately Savinho flourished and so did the side. Oreily brilliant, Gonzalez good, I thought Bobb was really way off, he looked a bit lost.

Up the blues, really decent result. For Everton, Ndiaye is a really bright player and Beto strong as an ox up top but thank god he's a bit crap.
Unfortunately Bernie won’t be here next season (past his best imo), we need players to step up and fill his role

I think he's right, loads to work on and needs to improve on the end product, His first touch and control are great but after that panic sets in and is bit of a rabbit in the headlights
he's not going to improve if doesnt play look at doku not perfect but game time coaching and maybe last chance chat has improved him, he a young lad yesterday had defender on toast in first 20 minutes then stopped running at him did pep change tactic's i dont know but he left him on when making subs so

I dread to think…

Our other forwards need to up their goalscoring games. 8 games into the PL season now and ‘Own Goal’ is still our second top scorer with 2.

Across all 11 games in all comps, they’ve scored just 4 goals between them… and 2 goals between them in 8 PL games:

Foden - 1 PL goal, 0 CL goals, 1 EFL goal
Cherki - 1 PL goal (not played in any other comp)
Doku - 0 PL goals, 1 CL goal
Savinho - 0 PL goals, 0 CL goals, 1 EFL goal
Bobb - 0 PL goals, 0 CL goals, 0 EFL goals

Worse still is that Doku and Savinho have now played 100 games in the prem between them with a combined goal return of 7 and 3 of them came in one match! That should be 25-30 now. That needs to change.

Savino for me and a good game he just needs to be calmer in front of goal! Writing off young players so soon can bite you on the butt if you let them go! He did have an assist and if pep thought he wasn’t good enough or will improve he wouldn’t have started most games last season and a few this season!

Really enjoyed the pass inside the Everton full back for O'Reilly to run onto at full pace. It used to be a great weapon for us particularly in the days of Sane and Sterling. Its an almost impossible task for the full back to defend. Too often now our wide players only receive the ball on the outside of the full back making creating a chance much more difficult. Not sure why we don't try and use this pass more often. We just don"t score the back post tap in goal that used to come routinely starting with the pass inside the opposite full back.

Thought it was very David Silva esque. The pre-assist killer pass that breaks the lines. Used to be nobody better at doing that for us.
