Everton (H) - Post-Match Thread

Yes, his legs of fetching and carrying, moving City ten yards further upfield, is allowing Rodri to just sit in and screen.

It wasn't a slur when it was said of Deschamps, and likewise towards Bernie.

Difference being, Bernie is a water carrier, a supercharger and so many other things all rolled into one.

No Bernie, no party.
Then he is so much more than a water carrier. I think the description water carrier is a slur. If you have a player who has a fantastic engine, and great technique then you have the ultimate modern footballer. A McTominay or a Fred are water carriers because they can do one thing but not the other.

In case some haven’t realised, City have just won 3-0, are playing wondrous stuff, have 3 local kids playing a part and we’re enjoying having fans back in the stadium. The kneeing doesn’t affect anyone negatively, neither does booing or clapping, just enjoy the football.

Amazing how panicky some people get if the conversation moves towards something that might be negative.

There's been 40-odd pages of us all collectively applauding the performance, if someone wants to mention the booing at the Everton match in the Everton post-match thread it seems appropriate - as is people replying they didn't hear it in their block etc.

Water carrier was definitely a slur when Cantona used it about Deschamps. The term comes from the professional cycling world where a "domestique" (the French translation is servant) is a rider who works for the benefit of their team and leader, rather than trying to win the race.

One of the tasks is keeping the team leader(s) fed and watered hence the term "water carrier".

Bernado does a hell of a lot of work for the team but does have the ability to make and score decisive goals. I literally could not believe it when nobody tried to sign him in the Summer. Thank god La Liga was going down the pan.

We totally controlled the game from start to finish and didn't give them a sniff. I think that was putting the ball in the fridge!

Rodri, Bernardo, Walker & Cancelo are playing at a really high level every game. Stones & Gundo were really good too. All the rest played well also.

Pleased for Sterling to get his goal, the pass from Cancelo was a peach.

Rodri's goal was the definition of a thunderbastard.

Bernardo deserved his goal.

Good debut from Palmer.

Made it look easy.

Bit of handbags but, the blue dips like the red dips like a good spit dirty fuckers, luckily I'm out of gobbing distance where I'm sat in SS3. A few cops went up but didn't seem to do anything apart from stand there.
Coming out of the ground from Block 111 . There was a few skirmishes around the coach car park segregation. A few objects being thrown from either side of the fencing. I managed to chest control a cigarette lighter.

And the same at all premier league clubs.
All teams have fans that leave early.
I've seen the vast majority of away games over the past 20 years and I've never seen a place empty as fast during the last ten minutes as the Etihad does. And most opposition grounds empty quickly because they are losing; see swamp at 4-1, 5-1 and 6-1.
Our place empties irrespective of the score, how we are playing and the importance of the game. The obvious examples being Rags and QPR 20012, West Ham 2014, PSG 2016 (I think), Swansea and Huddersfield 2018 and Leicester 2019. And possibly Everton last season but there were only 10,000 in so it's hard to tell.

One bloke near us missed all three goals Sunday. Half time Bar/piss/left early.

Wrong thread mate, this is the politics one.

Anyone seen an estimate of the speed of that shot from Rodders?

iirc sky in the past sometimes showed a graphic with a speed for certain ‘rocket shot’ goals

By the way when Sterling got the ball the Everton fans started singing red and white shite-or was that aimed at the manager

Anyone have a link to Macatee clips against Everton. Hearing rave comparisons to David Silva and missed this in the highlights on MOTD
