Thought Danilo looked good against Bournemouth but could tell he had no left foot.

Yeah I think a natural RB & LB is needed if Pep wants to go 5 at the back.

I actually think that this game will be easier for us to win than our opening match.

Apparently they were dreadful against Stoke going forward, if we play our current back three we should be able to nullify them. But I have a bad feeling Koeman will use the cowardly tactics that won them a point last time, which will make it hard to score too many, but I think our best bet would be to play Sané because he'll destroy whoever they throw in at RWB. I'll be at this game and obviously hoping for any win to take home.

They won't. They didn't attack at all last year and we still managed to concede thanks to clichy's limp attempt at holding off the rags new darling. Two missed pens too! It was a real typical city game that one.

I'd like us to have another go at the 3-5-2 thingy. I know we were underwhelmed by how it all played out last week (given that it seemed perfect in preseason) but at least we know what the problems were. This is how I'd like us to start vs everton:

I think Pep will go with this formation. as u said it work great in preseason.
last week we played Brighton, who likes to play offensive, but decided to play full defense and park the buss (they new playing offense they would loos 5 or 6-0)
Everton is not going to hold back and will not play deffence. so I think 2-5-3 is good line up with jesus n Kun up front, hopefully B.Silva from start, get Gunda for the last 20 min or so.

Going to be an interesting match.

Koeman and Pep know each other well. The last match we played them I got the feeling while watching that Koeman knew what Pep was going to do before he did it. Everton's players seemed to be prepared for any eventuality and had an answer for it. Felt like a bit of an ambush.

Really like the idea of the 3-5-2. Our pressing is way more efficient in this formation. Just need to get the players' runs and positional play gelling in attack. That will only come with playing it more. God knows what Pep wants to do.

Hope the boys come back from Girona refreshed and ready to go.

Any kind of winning start at home would be good, scratchy or otherwise.

I like Kompany in the middle too but I honestly think Pep is trying to protect Stones in a way. The CB out wide has to defend like a fullback at times and has to defend 1v1. I think he's trying to avoid Stones from looking foolish. David Luiz looked like a world beater last season playing in the middle.

Good point..I've seen stones play in full back position for everton..he'd be more useful playing there in a 3..keep Kompany in the middle definitely.
