Everton post-match thread

I simply don't see these issues that others seem to be seeing. If you had told me at the start of the season that we would be in the semi's of the capital one cup, topped our champs league group, and be 3 points off top, I would have snapped your hand off. If this is a bad season of football that you can't bear to watch (as some on here have been saying) all I can say is you simply can't like the game of football.

No team has a God given right to win a game and you have to respect the fact that a lot of teams below us are progressing, getting better and closing the gap on ALL the top teams. I would suggest the new influx of TV money and the fact that for 3 or so years we were hindered in the transfer market by FFP are the reason for that.

I was mainly disappointed that we didn't get the draw but it was one delicious ball from Barry and yes we gave him too much time to find the cross but overall 2.1 gives us a good chance of getting to the final and confident we can beat Everton at the Etihad as we can most teams.

Agree to a large extent and I've always been one that feels you simply just have to give the opposition some credit at times instead of blaming everything on our players and expecting teams to roll over because they cost considerably less to assemble. At the end of the day it's 11 v 11 and pretty much anything can happen.

That said, we do seem to be stumbling through most games at the moment and if that trend continues we might not be in the mix for 2 trophies, let alone 4, come mid-March. I still have faith in the manager and players to get the team to start putting in better performances though.

When you hear stories that Yaya plays every week because Pellegrini doesnt trust any of the others to control the game, I understand it. It does bring into question our transfer policy when every summer we continue to buy average midfielders none of which are capable of passing and controlling a game to even 20% of Yayas standard. However, when Yaya "passes" like he did last night then he is of no use whatsoever. For me, that was the worst game I have seen from him in a City shirt.

He had a poor game by his remarkable standards but those who accuse him of not trying.... well, words fail me. If these fans are your friends then who needs enemies.

To be honest, after what a lot of these players have done for this club to accuse them (some world cup winners) of not trying lacks respect and any sort of loyalty.

Last 5 minutes plus injury time was comical.
Everton down to 10 men and our glorious leader misses an opportunity to put pressure on and put on Sterling but instead ops for Fernando, therefore accepting defeat with 5-6 minutes to play.
The whole mentality of the squad and manager (at times) leaves a lot to be desired.

I would of bein fine with 2-1 but that penalty left a bitter taste.last time we had that Cnut I think was Southampton at home and you could see he was trying to influence the game their way.were gunna be stuck with this Cnut for years.ps feel better now.

Perfect post that mate. 100% spot on.

I suspect Fernando was intro'd to allow Yaya to push further upfield. Problem was Yaya was absent without leave for most of the game so it wasn't non starter. Trying to take positives, thought Sergio was looking somewhere close to his best and Delph looking better. Hopefully a goal will give Navas more confidence. As far as the semi is concerned, it's only half time, still all to play for.

Just been on an Everton site, now if this has been mentioned anywhere on here then (mods ) please delete. It seems that some City fans spit in a womens face and proceeded to hit the team bus and abuse the players.
Either they are really brave to wait around Goodison Park in the dark till the players cooled down , had a shower, got dressed and got on the coach or they are a bunch of idiots or someone is telling porkies ?

Not sure if it's related but I did read last night that it kicked off a bit outside the ground.

In what respect? You know he dragged us out of the third tier of English football, then the following season got us promoted to the Premier League as manager. And he did play for us in a team that back in the day was great and we should have won the 1st division in 1976-77.
Yes I know all that yet you still fucked up the spelling of his name......"Royal" FFS.

Anyway, back to last night's game. Bobby Madley's a useless **** and we'll do them 3-1 at ours!

Good post but ignores the present trajectory, substitutions, lack of motivation, inability to maintain momentum and effort, defensive problems, midfield cohesion etc.
If we can recapture our early season form then great, but to ignore what is happening before our own eyes is ostrich like.
But, as has been said many times - we're stuck with the moribund nature of this management - so just got to go with it and hope he can turn our current form around.
