Everton Thread - 2023/24

And yet Everton and Newcastle were firmly behind FFP to stop "New money" clubs.

On the one hand karma is a woman. On the other hand, the PL really seem to be ruining what little is left of their reputation for governance and their credibility as an organisation with this nonsense. It's crazy to say it, but if I was a conspiracy theorist I would say it's almost like it's being done on purpose to make the ESL look more appealing to fans.

Time to give up on the Premier League if we get charged yet again. It is becoming stupid now. Soon, some clubs will be scared of spending any money

Need an independent regulator now and suspend all points deductions on provision that the clubs are found in the right direction in the next two years they doing everything they can to put it right! After two years if it doesn't look like it then dock those team points!

Seems no club thought they were serious about points deductions and just expected a fine or transfer embargo at worse! You see it now with clubs knowing they serious about point deductions that they going to be more frugal and saying they need to sell first!! It's a mess..

Yeah Forest the other team

Everton + Nottingham Forest expecting to be informed on Monday that they’ve been found in breach of PL profitability & sustainability rules for 3yr cycle to June 2023. Both have prepared mitigation & will launch robust defences @TheAthleticFC #EFC #NFFC
How can Forest be in breach of PL, P&S rules?
They‘ve only been in the Prem, since 22-23 season, so have not completed a 3 year cycle, yet!

I wonder who told Everton ? ;-)

Premier League Star Criticized by Manager for Short Flight to Training as Fans Question Future of Sport

EVERTON boss Sean Dyche reprimanded Arnaut Danjuma for flying from Manchester to Liverpool for training.
Villarreal loanee Danjuma has reportedly been commuting from Manchester Airport to Liverpool airport to link up with his team-mates.

And that is a flight that takes only EIGHT minutes give or take.

Dyche revealed he had a sit-down with the winger to address this bizarre travel arrangement.
The 52-year-old tactician described it as “excessive” and hinted this is just part of “modern players'” mentality.
Dyche said during the pre-match press conference before Sunday’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa: “Well, I had a word with him.

“I said it seems excessive to go from Manchester Airport to Liverpool Airport for training.
“But you know, these modern players… Personally I would use a car but that’s the modern players.
“You know, they need to look after themselves and get their rest.”

Shocked fans took to social media and reacted with absolute disbelief upon hearing about Danjuma’s commute.

One fan tweeted: “D grade ballers flying into training everyday… Sport is finished.”
Another gushed: “Mate.”
A third wondered: “Really?”
This fan commented: “Who is he man?”
And that one said: “That’s awful, less than an hour drive.”

Danjuma joined Everton on loan after failing to stand out at Tottenham last season as part of a similar arrangement with Villarreal.
The Netherlands international has attracted interest from Lyon who wish to sign him in the January transfer window.

However, the Toffees are not keen on letting the 26-year-old go midseason, especially after Dwight McNeil’s recent injury.
Is the article saying Dyce is a 52 year old tactician or that his tactics are 52 years old?

Feel for Forest too. Only allowed to lose £61m due to promotion. The teams coming up have to spend just to try and stay in the league, its harder for them. So to handicap them even further is awful.
Which is why so many non cartel clubs voted for it, makes it harder for promoted clubs to compete.

Yes was clearly aimed at making it impossible for city to succeed basing it on turnover/profits based and when we got past that through prize money, selling prospects and global sponsorships with the multi club model they have tried to say ah well the turnover is not actually legit.
Do think we're best making common ground with other clubs though like Newcastle Everton and Forest going forward we're far more likely to get something fair rather than some made up rule to let scruffy Jim spend his money.
