That just shows how little most football fans know of football history. In truth, most don't know their own club's history, let alone anyone else's.

I remember, some years ago now, telling a Rag fan that City had spent more time in the top league than United. (At the time, it was true.) He stared at me in utter disbelief.

At last, he said, 'If that's true, it must be because you started in the First Division and us in the Second.'

'No, it's the other way around.'

At one point in the not too distant past we had won a european trophy, the league and the league cup more recently than them (1990’s)

Funny, because now its only the league cup they can claim bragging rights on

Not forgetting their new stadium is named after a man who made his stash from the slave trade.
Considering it does not have a name how can that be?
The area itself ie Bramley Moore is named after a slave trader but highly unlikely the stadium itself will be called that. Until the naming rights are issued it's name is Everton Stadium
