Everton V City Post Match Thread

We need to shoot more often, we were looking for that perfect tap in goal. At least Jovetic gave it a go and was unlucky with a couple of efforts. The Navas chance was a big miss. When you think about it we should've been 4-5 goals up in that first half on chances alone.

I like Navas and rate him as a cracking little player, but I have to say his finishing is fucking shit.

Is that 14 games unbeaten ? You wouldnt think so with some of the moaners on here , weve got Barcelona in the champs league , favourites for the last 16 in the FA Cup , within 2 pts of the Premeirship lead , and a £30m centre forward ready to sign on the dotted line , and very nearly a full fit squad , its really shit supporting City.

Exactly! Well said!

Surely not everyone on here has only been a City fan for the last three years?!

That ^

wot a load of rubbish, pple defending individual errors. Its not about Hart dropping a ball to allow them to score, its about the charlies angle up front dancing and pissing about with the ball, when he should be scoring, the sooner we get rid of that clown the better. I know this wont please every body but come on, he is the only striker fit and he cant even play the role, it saying much when a striker is substituted by a midfield player and the midfield player makes the space and the runs that the idiot being making. that is 2 valuable Everton team.

Don't know about you but some of the stuff we played today was mesmerizing, just missed that final end product. Probably the most entertaining team certainly in the premier league if not the world at the moment.

Great to watch at times but nobody will remember anything except the 1 point.. The most important thing to do on days like this is grind it out.... We didn't

Merlin by a mile

Not even debatable today, IMO. The lad just plays the beautiful game and was a delight to watch today; needed better end product from his team mates.

Agreed. Bony will have an absolute field day when he has this little genius picking him out.

We need the Bony option in the squad. Gary Monk made the point that with the number of chances we have, Bony could have a field day. I think we would have seen a difference at both ends if Bony had started for us - not that he could even if we had him - but he would have given us more threat upfront and might well have helped us successfully defend their goal.

Joe made some great save today that are soon forgotten. Who was marking Naismith?

Fernando. He allowed Naismith to get ahead of him, Hart had no chance whether he came out or not.
That's what I thought. Too quick to blame Hart but from what I saw Naismith had a free header. Wasn't sure who was marking him. Even if joe stays on his line it was a difficult save to make.
Considering our injury problems of late we have had a very good Christmas and are in touch.

Silva yet again was awesome. Would have took a draw before game but a little hard to take because of how well we played and being in front.

I don't blame Joe, he kept us in it today after a couple of Everton breaks.

Look at this way maybe

47 points from 21 games this year , 47 from 21 last year.

Chelsea 3 points better off at the same time last year with two additions that have made a big difference to their line up so when push to comes shove they are not the dominate force that most think they are.

We have more upside than they do.

More often than not the best defence wins the title and which all the injuries we have had as opposed to Chelsea its little wonder we are behind them but only two points at this juncture I will take that for now.

We'll need more that the 86 pts we got last year tho.

Chelsea have a much kinder away fixture list too.

They have dropped 14 points in 21 games and they drop another 14 ( 4 draws and 2 defeats ) in their remaining 17 games then 86 points may do it.

The game against them at their patch is important no doubt.

Win that and win against Arsenal and things are back on track.

Well said. What I'd have done for the above when I was sat getting spanked by Lincoln away. Great times - even today.

I like him too. Would like more end product from him in terms of creating and finishing. Be interesting to see what happens if he has Bony to cross to.

Not bad, looked pretty with some nice passes and touches at times but lacked someone holding the ball up and lacked a killer instinct/ruthlessness. We got into good positions and either overplayed it or hit a weak shot wide. Navas missed a fucking golden chance in the first half. You have to take those away from home, especially in tight games.

We've not been making goalkeepers work hard enough this season. We don't shoot enough in off the cuff/open mini-moments from outside or just inside the box. These very small windows of opportunity open up quite a number of times each game and we are too hesitant to give it a fucking crack at the top corner.

Even if we hit 1/4 of those little opportunities that open up, it'll add to our goal threat immensely. It's something midfield players should be thriving on, especially when we don't have any strikers at the moment.
