Evidence for religion

ps sometimes I have been curious as to how people choose to decide what is 'truth.' Perhaps, if you have grown up with an academic background, then the person who can best explain facts, figures and theories is the one who most knows 'truth.' But take a guy that reads many books on, eg, judo - understands the theories and techniques amazingly well....but then visits a dojo, gets on the mat...and ends up on his arse many a time...maybe he doesn't understand 'truth' quite so well? Could 'religion' be like this also?

Ok, fair enough. Perhaps we have misunderstandings/different understandings of what the thread was about. I can accept that. Really don't mean to piss you
off. I might just see things differently. Just read stuff from Rory Burns after his century - he spoke of balance, rhythm, feeling. That, for me, is what this is about, beyond religious an/or anti- religious dogma. Apparently that's not the case for others and that's fine too.

as i keep saying what you are on about is a completely different topic about how humans can control and focus their mind and body, a worthy topic that could command its own thread

No.

Would it work better with taekwondo?

Thanks. Appreciate this. If you add something like 'heart' to mind and body, then that's about it as I see it. Without that it all comes to feel a bit mechanical, for me at least. Not so enjoyable. Yet, through this, I come to find the lines of science/religion/art etc a bit more blurred than others may. My choice - no-one else has to buy into this. And you are more than welcome to disagree. As to where this sort of comment should be posted, that's debatable for sure, lol. Cheers.

F*ck knows? Maybe you could read heaps of books on taekwondo, then go to a local club, tell them that you are a master and see what happens? Could even report back here as to what happens, if you want?

heart = emotion

which of course has nothing to do with the existance of a deity

"Heart = emotion"
For you, this may be true - for me 'heart' is more like what allows me to be present with emotions...beyond denial or reaction.
In other words, for me, 'heart' is a way of freedom. I find this enjoyable. And appreciate that this may not be how others see it or even use the word heart. Words are funny things - in that we can often assume that we use them in the same way as another. So much potential for misunderstandings this way, when really folk are trying to say the same thing

I think you’ve over estimated how much of a clue you have mate, what the bloody hell are you going on about?!
Then great. Enjoy life as you do. Not a problem. I just tend to visit life in a way that is off the well beaten path. Not everyone's cup of tea - and so be it.
