Excited when they signed but turned out to be rubbish

anybody mentioned Kevin Reeves?
I really thought this guy was going to be banging them in from everywhere
but never really seemed to be able to put a run of goals together

not rubbish by any stretch, but far below the inital hype, nametags, comparisons and general expectations of a Brazilian number 9, but Jesus.

You can point to most foreign signings over a 10 year period from when we were pushing to come back through the leagues. George Weah would probably be the standout name from my youth.

We bought a lot of players carrying or picking up injuries when they arrived, thankfully not so many nowadays.

David Oldfield...thought he was going to be the missing piece of a puzzle of a 1000 missing pieces.

2 notable goals and one mental late cameo against Liverpool aside (when admittedly the game was over and we were on the end of another battering) he didnt rip up any trees.

Adabayour, Santa Cruz and Boateng?
Disagree on Boateng - was pretty clear he was going to be a top player but we just didnt play him. Or where we did it was at LB when he always preferred CB. He went stale sat on the bench.

Its a classic case of buying one for the future only to danage their development by not doing anything with them.
