F*** the Jubilee

Quite a few people on twitter saying the next time there will be celebrations like this will be for Thatcher's death.

I guess only those who lived through Thatcher's premiership (as adults or teenagers) can truly comment on what it was like. What I'll never understand is why some people will celebrate her death as some kind of victory. Wouldn't that be rather a hollow victory? She's had a long life will probably die of natural causes. Can't see much to gloat about unless you're expecting immortality soon afterwards.

What I do know is the phrase "sick man of europe" was a nickname she eradicated. More than the Windsors have ever done for the country I would suggest.

I see no reason to 'celebrate' anyone's death. I'm not a tory, but I celebrated when Thatcher was replaced by John Major. She's done no harm since then. That's what democracy is all about.

1. She was elected leader of the tory party because they thought a woman would attract female votes at a time when they were really desperate to get back in power.

2. Callaghan's Labour had no idea and the country was going down the pan.

3. Some people will vote for change just for the sake of it. In 1979 lots of people did that (because of 2 above)

4. She stayed in power because (a) her cabinet were too scared to challenge her, (b) Labour were clueless until John Smith took over, (c) John Smith - the only credible alternative at the time - died.

To say her 'removal' from power was glorious would be an understatement.
So basically she was elected to rescue the country from Labour, and she did exactly that. At least you admit it. God bless her.

It's off topic, but suffice to say they won't, the truth be known there has always been a very loud and vociferous minority that think they are the majority, I did not agree with many of the things she did, but you have to put much of it in context, this country was a total basket case, the Unions and the left had saw to that.

It's a pity that when their members needed them most, most unions were too busy playing at politics and trying to fight wars that they could never win. They fought a battle and lost and now they shout from the sidelines

Re: F*** the Jubliee

to have an opinion about ER, i would like to know what she believes, not a carefully scripted sound-bite from the palace p.r. department.
Does it gall her that the monarchy is just a "tourist attraction" like Tower Bridge?
She is revered by the armed forces, so is she concerned about the squalid treatment they get, the squaddies anyway?
Does the reputation of "her" parliament as a byword for sleaze and corruption cause her anguish?
Is she comfortable being head of a religion that is losing followers and credibility at an increasing rate?
How does she feel about a devolved Scotland?
Does meeting heads of state, of countries with questionable humanitarian records, cause her a problem?
Was she satisfied at the outcome of the inquest on her daughter-in-law?
It would make interesting reading, but for reasons that are all too obvious, it will never happen

can you tell me what you do by the way?

do you think there is anything wrong with being working class?
No I can't.

Only when they reference it every ten minutes and want a class war.

it happened, it's not just "one story" it was all over the place.

she sat down and had a banquet with murderers paid by yourself and I.

do you see anything wrong with that or are you just going to call me for not being middle class (what ever he fuck that is nowadays)?
I'm not in the slightest bit arsed in it, at all. Britain is friendly with Swaziland and Bahrain so why shouldn't she.

As for them being murderers, the same could be levelled at any elected head of a western power so you may as well call them humans or any other catch all.

I have no idea whether you are working or middle class, nor do I give a shit, either is a prole.

Maggie= sheer admiration.
So you hate British working people as much as she did.
There you go again with that claptrap.

Bill is a working British person by the way, one that just worked fucking hard and so succeeded when she was in power.
