FA cup 4th Round draw Middlesbrough at home

From that Bro forum.....always freezing up there.

All 5000+ tickets were snapped yesterday in the first day of sale by Boro season ticket holders hungry to see their team in cup action at the home of the Premier Champions. Tickets flew out by phone, online and in a humongous queue that wrapped around two sides of a freezing cold Riverside and hardly seemed to edge forward all day long. The result is probably an awful lot of colds today but precious tickets for the Cup battle at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 24th January.

I joined the January ticket sale queue yesterday down by the Riverside. Time slowed down to a crawl as we inched forward around the outside of the ground from the South to the West Stand. My attempts at purchase over the phone floundered as there were 85 ahead of me in the queue. Online I didn't have the privileges each time I tried. I probably should have been more patient as my patience would be tested to the full in the queue of the year show at the home of MFC.

It was all good natured stuff. There was free tea and hot drinks and toilets open in the concourse. Which was just as well as online rumours started to hit home of people finally having been served after 6 hours and 45 minutes of queuing. Surely not. But as the queue's crawl suddenly halted for 45 minutes of standstill we realised sadly that we weren't making a whole lot of progress.

It is at times like these that you wish you had put on an extra pair of socks over those ice cube feet. Be thankful for small mercies that you did return to the car for the extra layer under the coat, thermal gloves and hat.

At regular intervals the ticket office staff and stewards came out to tell everyone about the free warm drinks and to reassure us that the ticket office would remain open. Online and phone sales had now been suspended to be fair to people that had been slowly turning blue in a queue to buy tickets for the blue side of Manchester for most of the day.

Around tea time, just a fantasy, there was a head and ticket count. This was followed by the issuing of lottery tickets. I was no.111. That didn't seem too many. But that ton plus took a further hour and a half to reach the counter. The Gazette had turned up by this time to take snaps and interview the cold queuers. Two further counts reassured us that though stocks were low we should just squeeze through.

Finally just before 7 pm a barrier was put in place about 5 or 6 people behind me. That was the end of the queue, all behind it had already been told they would likely be out of luck but they could hang about on the off chance and their names were taken for any returns. And as unlikely as it would seem there invariably are always returns.

I bought my Man City and Brentford tickets in the cold, dark down by the Riverside at 7 o'clock. The queue was incredibly slow moving but all the staff were so thoughtful and kept us fully informed throughout. The reward is a ticket for Eastlands and the hope that it can be a game to match the last epic cup night at Anfield late last year.

A day in the life shivering by the Riverside.

I've had similar waits at Maine Rd, the one that stands out was in the snow and i spent hours listening to Cricket on the radio in Aussie land where the commentators were moaning about the heat.

Thank fuck for the internet era.

Need to beat these 8-0+, i'm still scarred from that horrible day back in May 2008. Used to hate Boro as they always seemed to hurt us somehow, that time they beat us without a shot on target was just a piss take.

Boro hurt alot of top clubs just ask man united or Chelsea its nothing personal we just love giving the big teams a game they'll remember love being underdogs and scalping the big clubs.

You did it to us when we were shit! Alfonso fucking Alves!!!! We were meant to sign him aswel.

Didn't Wednesday get 7000 tickets

Don't think we have ever allocated any team 7,000 tickets. The maximum has been 6,600.
Sheff Wednesday got 5,400 owing to redevelopment work

Yes, I wondered why they kept on thanking "the 7000 Sheffield Wednesday fans" for making the trip on the PA when there were only 5500 of them.

That's why i thought that as they said it a few times

Tables have turned.

In 1997 City fans queued around Maine Road to buy tickets for this fixture for the 5th round clash.
Thank god we don't have to get out at 2 in the morning to queue to get a couple of tickets

Have they no internet in Boro yet?

dont forget our ticket office is shite!

I haven't

Saw a bit of the West Ham and Everton replay last night. It was breathless stuff

Struck me that both teams were giving absolutely everything. Have we gone past that period when people said "It's only the Cup"?

Maybe a lot of clubs are realising that they can't win the League or get in the top 4, but they can win the FA Cup.

Hi,
I'm a fan from Belgium and for the first time I have the opportunity to be on the Etihad for a game.
Unfortunatelly, I can't buy two tickets for this game because I've registered too late on the official website. I know it's a shame but I really didn't know....
I'm searching for a solution because it really would be a disgrace if I was in Manchester and couldn't go to the stadium. Anyone can help please? Maybe in private message?
Sorry if I can't post that here, but I can't post in the tickets section because I'm new I presume. Is there a solution?
Thanks a lot and sorry for any inconvenience.
