FA Cup Final - Post Game thread

Had a good day out despite the result and the lack of effort from our team. Clearly the league celebrations should have been banned until after the cup final. Frustrating, but find it hard to be pissed off at my team which has done so much in recent years.

Sadly saw trouble from both sides, but both incidents I was in at wembley park and at the services on the way back were instigated by rags on the wind up, one of which they targeted a kid and blues responded.

Also got my foot runover by a wheelchair in the concourse, bloody hell! No trophy, didn't recognise the team and three purple toes this morning to boot. Still, it was a laugh. If I only followed this club for the wins then i'd be in trouble given I started going in the 80s!

outside of BM I’ve avoided all sports media since the final whistle yesterday. Will watch the Leeds play off game later, then just wait for the news of ten Bob getting sacked which will throw them back into chaos. Assume they will sack him on Tuesday when they return to leaky towers unless ive already missed it.

We beat West Ham on Sunday and the drinking went on until at least 5am on Monday morning. A ridiculous way to prepare for a Cup Final on the back of a long, hard season. Why couldn't they do the drinking celebration tonight ?
The players were back in training on Tuesday. That's 5 days to recover from a night drinking on the Saturday after winning the title and 4 in a row. It wasn't drinking 5 days earlier that cost us the game. It was not playing our best team, and our two best centre hallfs that have been rock solid in the title run in. Not playing Doku from the start was another mistake. He's played really well during the title run in. He would have given us the extra width on the pitch and a real attacking option.

Got to admit to thinking the same. I still can't believe that the 'national stadium' was rebuilt at the back of an industrial estate in a scruffy north London suburb with poor road access, rather than just off the motorway network in the Midlands.

Everything about it is depressing. If they wanted it there they had to bulldoze the shit hole and modernise it and get one major direct road to it and out of it.

Really bad day at the office against a side that it's been absolute men v boys in the 2 league games. It's entirely on us that result yesterday.
I'll be honest and say I'd have no problem if Utd played out of their skin and seen us off royally. In reality they just had to play a bit better than they usually do and we helped them along.

I'm a fairly regular drinker, and staying up until 5am would write me off for at least 2 days!

These lads don't drink, so to have a binge like that might hit them even harder.

All for them having a few beers etc but thought they could have saved the celebrations until after the parade as they tend to have a do following that.

Anyway, it may not have changed the result anyway, but we've certainly given ourselves an excuse, albeit a poor one.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & a bad image for the players and club with a derby cup final still to play for another record.

I'm disappointed that the manager authorised it and that the same suspects were pissed at 5am.

If the piss heads want to abuse their bodies and shorten their careers let them do it AFTER the last game.

Jack in particular is at the cross roads, not first choice for City or England.

The group captains need to lead by example and clamp down on irresponsibly that harm the team and club !!

Honestly I hope they all feel fucking pissed off. We deserved nothing yesterday. We weren't unlucky, they were just piss poor. They deserve a break and bit of time off. Winning the league was immense but this fucking final defeat should be fuel to the fire... added motivation. No victims feeling sorry for themselves once they've had time to come round.

Hope they do something next year like they did with the 4 in a row this year. They had a sign in the training room that said, "nobody has won 4 in a row...yet"... Next season they should put a picture of those red twats holding the cup (specifically fernandes as hes the biggest prick of them all), next to a picture of Arteta (celebrating beating us at The Emirates) next to a picture of Real running onto the pitch after the penalty shoot out. Turn pain into ruthless motivation. If they want me to mock up such a picture, I'll do it for a handsome fee. Forward this to the club please

Ah! But there again it does have that London Designer Outlet on its doorstep to counterbalance all that grot..!

I mean, to an uncultured Northern oik like me, seeing the look of wonder on t't wife's face as we once again discovered the LDO's riches yesterday prior to the game.. well, it was worth every penny I've spent since travelling South East to stay at our daughter's on Thursday!

As for our performance.. well, Pep got it wrong with the team selection and tactics but we STILL were a country mile better than The Red Filth.

The best team threw it away yesterday.

Roll on 24/25 season fixtures. Let's grind the PL's collective nose in it again for a fifth consecutive time and also win the Champion's League again. That'll do for me next season..

Didn’t think either were penalty’s tbh , each to their own opinion obviously but if either had been given against us I’d be furious.
Football would be shit if it was predictable and being on the wrong end of a defeat like that makes the winning taste so much better whe we do 5 in a row next year.
The thing is, they 100% WOULD,VE been given against us.

First time in years I have travelled down by coach to Wembley and it will definitely be the last, train, stay over or not going are my options .
Getting in and out of the place is just horrendous and I’m too old now to cope with it .
Really bad day yesterday all round as nothing went right, even the elevators weren’t working in the stadium and we were in the gods.
That’s another thing how on earth the can charge £115 to sit really high up is bonkers.
We were poor yesterday which I can’t explain but if we get that pen which we should have early doors things would have been different.

We ve been poor first half and unlucky second half (Haaland and Alvarez chances + many dangerous cut backs inside penalty area, Foden unlucky once for instance whats been a great chance). Its been a really strong game from us second half.

People says it does not matter how game pan out and whether we dominated or no. It absolutely matters. In football, luckily, you may play best football in the world and loose particular game. But long term its how games pan out is what really shows you where is team overally. Following the Treble season, we have been at quicksand, but we delivered Premier League. We would have a great chance for unthinkable had we gotten through Real Madrid. With second treble at the line I have a feeling things could have been a little different against United. But in my book in tie against Real we proofed we are the best team in the world, cause we were better.

Game against United does not change it. United broke few times and capitalize on our mistakes: Luton can do it, Celtic against prime Barcelona can do it, shit simply happens.

Yet its plain to see, that many our players were poorer this season than last (Bernardo, Stones, Grealish, Haaland, KDB, Dias) for various reasons, mainly injuries. Still not really horrific: KDB since return have great stats, yet had to be substituted all the time cause has not been fully ready fitness wise. Bernardo got us a few important goals (smart first goal at Bernabeu, Chelsea FA Cup), Grealish is suited for Citys ball, shame he just do not have numbers (shots blocked ratio must be some kind of record). Thats why this season been a bit underwhelming in terms of record against top teams.

Probably too harsh on Kovacic, hes fighter and a very good player, but hes not world class player offensively. The difference against Gundogan is obvious (not only numbers, but decisions/ability to switch play/reception of the ball with turnover etc). In games against low blocks, which are like almost 100% of our games these days, world class „8” with sense for a goal is crucial. I hoped for more from Nunes in this regard than Kovacic anyway.

Feel for supporters, who spent a little fortune on a trip to Wembley. You heroes guys, we go again next season!

Good morning blues and you sleeper cell rags posing as blues on here, how are we this fine Sunday morning?

Let's not be down, we've had a fantastic end to a different season, undefeated in the league since early December and bagging 4 in a row, yesterday was always going to be difficult regardless of how shite them red mardarses are.

I'm feeling fine about yesterday, we win some we lose some, we win as a team and lose as a team, there was no bitterness from pep or the players, we even gave them a guard of honour as they went to walk the steps. That shows proper class and a humbleness.
Do you think them lot would do that? Not a chance.

Hold your heads up high blues, we are the best team in the land and all the world and we will be celebrating that later as we welcome the history makers yet again back to Manchester.

The thing is, they 100% WOULD,VE been given against us.
As sure as a cup of Bovril is a cup of Bovril. My ERO texted me (he was watching, I wasn't!) "How is that not a pen? That's exactly the same as Carragher on Lescott! - that wasn't given either! Rags are streets ahead of anyone when it comes to getting a penalty that for all the world is identical to another team's 'coming together' as Crappenberg always had it!

And not a single rag or media gerbil will give a shit about possession or shots. And neither do I when we can't turn that possession or shots into goals.
I'm alluding to some comments made by some blues that we were beaten by the better side on the day. We weren't - we were miles from our normal standard but despite that we were the dominant side by a distance. Utd parked the bus and hoped for the best - when we attacked they played like Brentford (understandable for Brentford to play that way). United cannot believe we missed those chances and made errors - nothing to do with their tactics. Our players are human - not robots. Days like yesterday will always happen from time to time (at some point, it will happen again) - doesn't in any way diminish the reputation of our side.

Yep, more we lost it than the Rags won it. We only concede three kinds of goals - cock-ups or worldies, and occasionally a bit of crisp passing will do us as we've all gone up to get a goal bar our stickman. I haven't seen the first goal, in fact I haven't seen any, and hope when the highlights come on the OS I'll whizz the clip on to Doku's goal but what came back to me straight away was the Keating goal v the Arse at the Joie - big boot over the top 'n Keating misreads it, Josko and Stef get mixed up with a tango from Strictly.
The first goal was a disaster but I've seen people saying that wouldn't have happened with Eddie in net. We've conceded stupid goals exactly like that with ederson in goal. Could see it coming a couple of seconds before was like a slo motion build up to a car crash you can see coming but can't do anything about.

Only in the second half. We were fucking dross in the first half. 3 shots and one of those was that nothing attempt straight a the keeper. We were much the better side second half but they didn’t need to attack by then. It was a shitshow today. We have to just accept that and move on. Sometimes shit happens. At least the blues on here who always bet against us had a win for once :-)
We were poor first half especially, but still better than United. The players are human - at some point this will happen again - it's normal - the players aren't robots.
