The players were back in training on Tuesday. That's 5 days to recover from a night drinking on the Saturday after winning the title and 4 in a row. It wasn't drinking 5 days earlier that cost us the game. It was not playing our best team, and our two best centre hallfs that have been rock solid in the title run in. Not playing Doku from the start was another mistake. He's played really well during the title run in. He would have given us the extra width on the pitch and a real attacking option. We beat West Ham on Sunday and the drinking went on until at least 5am on Monday morning. A ridiculous way to prepare for a Cup Final on the back of a long, hard season. Why couldn't they do the drinking celebration tonight ?
Got to admit to thinking the same. I still can't believe that the 'national stadium' was rebuilt at the back of an industrial estate in a scruffy north London suburb with poor road access, rather than just off the motorway network in the Midlands.
I'll be honest and say I'd have no problem if Utd played out of their skin and seen us off royally. In reality they just had to play a bit better than they usually do and we helped them along.Really bad day at the office against a side that it's been absolute men v boys in the 2 league games. It's entirely on us that result yesterday.
Some of the commentary yesterday about it been one of the greatest shocks in history was bizarre, how much have the rags spent, and are they seriously comparing them with Wigan?
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL & a bad image for the players and club with a derby cup final still to play for another record.I'm a fairly regular drinker, and staying up until 5am would write me off for at least 2 days!
These lads don't drink, so to have a binge like that might hit them even harder.
All for them having a few beers etc but thought they could have saved the celebrations until after the parade as they tend to have a do following that.
Anyway, it may not have changed the result anyway, but we've certainly given ourselves an excuse, albeit a poor one.
Ah! But there again it does have that London Designer Outlet on its doorstep to counterbalance all that grot..!Got to admit to thinking the same. The thing is, they 100% WOULD,VE been given against us.Didn’t think either were penalty’s tbh , each to their own opinion obviously but if either had been given against us I’d be furious.
Football would be shit if it was predictable and being on the wrong end of a defeat like that makes the winning taste so much better whe we do 5 in a row next year.
At least in a couple of years we'll be able to play cup finals at "the people's stadium" in Trafford, that all of us will be paying for.
As sure as a cup of Bovril is a cup of Bovril. My ERO texted me (he was watching, I wasn't!) "How is that not a pen? That's exactly the same as Carragher on Lescott! - that wasn't given either! Rags are streets ahead of anyone when it comes to getting a penalty that for all the world is identical to another team's 'coming together' as Crappenberg always had it!The thing is, they 100% WOULD,VE been given against us.
I'm alluding to some comments made by some blues that we were beaten by the better side on the day. We weren't - we were miles from our normal standard but despite that we were the dominant side by a distance. Utd parked the bus and hoped for the best - when we attacked they played like Brentford (understandable for Brentford to play that way). United cannot believe we missed those chances and made errors - nothing to do with their tactics. Our players are human - not robots. Days like yesterday will always happen from time to time (at some point, it will happen again) - doesn't in any way diminish the reputation of our side. And not a single rag or media gerbil will give a shit about possession or shots. And neither do I when we can't turn that possession or shots into goals.
The first goal was a disaster but I've seen people saying that wouldn't have happened with Eddie in net. We've conceded stupid goals exactly like that with ederson in goal. Could see it coming a couple of seconds before was like a slo motion build up to a car crash you can see coming but can't do anything about.Yep, more we lost it than the Rags won it. We only concede three kinds of goals - cock-ups or worldies, and occasionally a bit of crisp passing will do us as we've all gone up to get a goal bar our stickman. I haven't seen the first goal, in fact I haven't seen any, and hope when the highlights come on the OS I'll whizz the clip on to Doku's goal but what came back to me straight away was the Keating goal v the Arse at the Joie - big boot over the top 'n Keating misreads it, Josko and Stef get mixed up with a tango from Strictly.
We were poor first half especially, but still better than United. The players are human - at some point this will happen again - it's normal - the players aren't robots.Only in the second half. We were fucking dross in the first half. 3 shots and one of those was that nothing attempt straight a the keeper. We were much the better side second half but they didn’t need to attack by then. It was a shitshow today. We have to just accept that and move on. Sometimes shit happens. At least the blues on here who always bet against us had a win for once :-)
