FA Cup Final - Post Game thread

I know you're pissed but that's a bit shit mate. The effort was there, the quality was evidently not. Fine to criticise the performance but to have a go at this lot for not trying just isn't true or fair.

Correct far too many claiming lack of effort or complacency. This often happens when teams lose and, especially with our team, it’s bollocks fan talk.

Errors were made and I am sure our squad is generally mentally and physically tired after the exertions of winning six trophies in two seasons.

You don’t achieve 74% possession if you are not putting in plenty of effort.

What an entitled bunch of fannie’s we’ve got on here.
Criticise how we played by all means but don’t ever criticise the desire of this team.
They’ve been to the well far more often than we can appreciate and yet people accuse them of ‘not trying’, ffs.
We’ve had a bad day at the office but won the ONE trophy we’d have all picked when the season started.
As for all the ‘Pep fucked up brigade’ just wait until he’s gone, then you might appreciate what we have/had. Then again, maybe not….

In fairness Pep has said the same himself about his tactics today. He got it wrong.

Regardless of how well Pep does, and the vast vast majority, know he is undoubtedly the best manager ever to manage us, there is nothing wrong with criticising his team selection/tactics etc. It’s a forum after all.

If this was the champions league final today it would have been taken a lot more seriously by Pep and the players. Certainly nobody on the piss for 48 hours only 5 days ago, if rumours are true. The FA cup final, even a derby, is not a big deal to the professionals anymore, especially in the wake of the treble and a record breaking 4th consecutive Premier league title.
Mmmmmmm No don’t like that These cunts should be destroyed at every possible opportunity Today a chance missed to ram their fkin snouts in it an now they’re laughing at us Very disappointing Fk all on the horses or lottery an now this Cnut of a day Night all

Disappointed for Pep I’m sure if he had it all over again he would’ve done things differently. Sentiment should never have crept into Peps team selection. Why would you mess with successful formula ? By all means do it in a Carabao cup or a friendly but not in a major cup final and when a double is on the line. No way should they have been allowed to win this. It’s taken a little shine off the end of the season despite an incredible effort to win the league.

Complacent. Lazy. Dog shit.

The lot of them apart from Doku should be fucking ashamed and maybe take a cold hard look at themselves being out on the piss for the last week.

Absolutely unforgivable performance, I couldn’t give a fuck how many trophies they’ve won.

Anyone who went to Wembley to watch that wants refunding out of the players pockets.

Unforgivable? Ashamed? Cold hard look at themselves?

What a fucking embarrassing take, you need to do the above and get a grip.

That is God's way of reminding you you're a City fan. We have rubbed those bastards' noses in the mud for the last 10 years. And we'll do it again next year. Never take anything for granted. Let them have their moment. Stand firm. CTID .
Gradually getting over it aided by a few whiskies. Even more cheered up after lolling at That is God's way of reminding you you're a City fan

Both Pep and the players had an off day, didn’t look at the races at all until Doku came on. That starting lineup looked like Pep giving into sentiment a bit and starting a couple purely because they didn’t start against West Ham. Was the wrong game plan too though and the damage was done before we changed it.

Both Pep and the players having an off day is rarer than pretty much every team that has ever played football though and I don’t feel particular down given what this group has achieved over the last couple of seasons. I doubt we lose that game if we didn’t win the title last week, but it shows just how hard winning multiple trophies, particularly on the bounce, is.

Just a shame it had to happen against them!

Agree with all that mate. To change the centre back pairing for such a big game was a strange move.

As you say, it's rare that Pep or the players get things wrong and a double whammy of it being the cup final and against them.

But, to have responded to a treble winning season by achieving a 4th consecutive league title and reaching an FA Cup final is an incredible effort. Clearly we're disappointed today, but seeing united fans talking about how they 'deserved' to win today, just reminds me of everything we want to avoid turning into. Celebrate the good times and take the defeats on the chin. No entitlement.

Win or lose, it doesn't make the journey home from Wembley any quicker or slower.

Today pretty well summed up our season in many ways. Pedestrian build up, no movement, even being brainless at times. It was like watching a Subbuteo game. One player moving with the ball while the rest stopped still. Where is the incisive movement, the runs into the half channels? When Doku was on the ball another player came over to double up with his marker. That left a gap in what used to be called the inside left channel for a City player to go into but no one moved for him and he had to do it all himself. Where was the movement and passing that led to Sané scoring that incredible goal at Arsenal? Where's the dynamism gone? I struggle to see how we won the title sometimes.

KDB has been a shadow of the player he was. Bernardo has been very pedestrian most of the season. Foden has carried us but had a very poor game today. And unless we were trying to help Poundland Pep keep his job, why start a very rusty Ake & Stones in a final? Haaland's technique, or lack of it, pisses me off, as well as his propensity to stroll around and exhibit no urgency to close down. You do wonder if too many players have become too complacent. Pep needs to look everyone in the eye this summer and decide if they've got the fight in them.

All tried their best did they then? Not been out on the piss for a week?

Don’t give a fuck how many medals they’ve won, that show today was pure unprofessionalism.

We play better under pressure, for the first time in weeks that intensity was removed and the result was todays underwhelming performance, the team have done us proud, today was a massive off day, I feel we never truly play our best game at Wembley, not sure why.

The support Doku got in the early part of the second half was atrocious. He had no one to pass to so often and was on his own. It was so unlike us.
