That’s very true. At the moment we’re not attracting casual fans at the rate that the team is getting better. People don’t like “tourists” but that’s what it takes to sell out these sorts of games.
I remember catching the tube to the 2011 community shield match. I was early so not many on when it left central London. A few city fans a similar number of United fans. By the time it reached Wembley Central it wa packed with United fans,, with London accents, all travelling a very short distance to the game. We just don’t have that many fans outside of Manchester yet
Well put, although I think it is changing albeit slowly, I live in Essex these days, so tend to attend games in the south.
On the way back from the game tonight, there were 3 young lads decked out in city gear that got off at Romford station with very distinctive Essex accents.
It will take a generation of success, to attract the support that Utd & Liverpool enjoy around the country.
Personally I couldn’t give a flying feck, but for those that do it’s going to be the same for a while......
