FA Cup Semi Final draw - Brighton

That’s very true. At the moment we’re not attracting casual fans at the rate that the team is getting better. People don’t like “tourists” but that’s what it takes to sell out these sorts of games.

I remember catching the tube to the 2011 community shield match. I was early so not many on when it left central London. A few city fans a similar number of United fans. By the time it reached Wembley Central it wa packed with United fans,, with London accents, all travelling a very short distance to the game. We just don’t have that many fans outside of Manchester yet

Well put, although I think it is changing albeit slowly, I live in Essex these days, so tend to attend games in the south.
On the way back from the game tonight, there were 3 young lads decked out in city gear that got off at Romford station with very distinctive Essex accents.
It will take a generation of success, to attract the support that Utd & Liverpool enjoy around the country.
Personally I couldn’t give a flying feck, but for those that do it’s going to be the same for a while......

There’s a world of difference between Liverpool and City core support
There’s only Utd & Liverpool in England who have the volume of supporters countrywide who can be relied upon to snap up any tickets
Spurs Chelsea & Arsenal have the London tourists to pick up the slack whereas City are mainly a localised fan base and simply haven’t picked up any meaningful tourist support in this country yet. Tourists in the north west will still go to Liverpool & Utd first as that’s where the history is.

At City it’s generally the same people who are going to all the games, the away games especially with the loyalty points making getting tickets very difficult for new or younger supporters but the city is a relatively poor one so it’s understandable that people have to start picking and choosing the games they go to
I’ve spent over £8k this season just on tickets travel and accommodation,it’s a very expensive hobby

I think there should be more understanding on why there are so many empty seats, the average working man just can’t afford to go to every game

I’m at Wembley Saturday ticket & train £120
Spurs on Tuesday ticket & train £140
Palace next Sunday ticket & train £110

£370 in a week on just tickets & travel
I fucking love you

On the tube back into London had a Brighton fan giving it "your support is shite, winning 1-0 and you don't even sing also where were you when you were shit"

I gave him some feedback.

I’d rather not sell out than have the plastics follow us because that would set more of us back more money than we’re already paying as it’ll justify further price rises.

Vincent Kompany said last year that he wants to see fairer ticket prices for us and the club ignored him. Hopefully they see the sales for yesterday and it starts to hit home that the continual seasoncard price hikes (that come out of our bank accounts every month for most people), all the extra games we have to pay for on top of that and the huge expenses of European away games and trips to Wembley and it starts to hit home what our support is about.

The club need to wake up and stop trying to attract the plastics and price properly for the real fans to afford everything.

We have the support size to sell out everything everywhere... City just need to realise that our support is not a fanbase like they’re used to being with (Barça) and rubbing shoulders with (Madrid, Bayern, United etc.)

Yeah and before the game as well right cocky lot. Like someone as said previously probably loads of day trippers and other football fans mixed in. They didn’t like it when they got ‘You’ve had your day out’ at the end!

There are only maybe 4000 blues who are going to Wembley, Spurs and Palace which leaves 29000 blues, myself included, who only have one trip to Wembley to pay for so I don't think the price of a trip to Wembley is the reason why we didn't sell out.

The club have spent a decade alienating our core fanbase and trying to attract middle class families with high disposable income with no real emotional connection to City many of whom obviously couldn't be arsed cancelling little Tarquin's piano lessons so they could go to Wembley

You reap what you sow

If only we could sing as loud in the stadium as the concourse. Although have to admit Wembley is a shit ground to get any songs going except for chants like blue moon!
Our support needs to realise that singing:
Blue Moon
The Best Team In The Land
We Love You City
We’re Not Really Here
Ci-ty Ci-ty
Come On City
etc.

Is what everyone will join in with.

Not trying to get Bernardo going eighteen times in ten minutes and Empty Seats At Home fifteen times a half.

We’re a bit clueless when it comes to what songs to sing and when.

Yesterday, Gabriel Jesus scored from a de Bruyne cross and three parts of Level 1 tried to get the Bernardo song going within ten seconds of each other and none of them took off. Bernardo isn’t the song to sing at that moment and it’s no surprise that people don’t join in, especially as we’d already sung it three times in the first three minutes and about ten times in the concourse before the game n’all.

Sing the core songs and everyone will join in.

And stop being so obsessive with singing new chants over everything else.
