FA Youth Cup 2014/15 Thread

The size of that Chelsea team was ridiculous. How are some of them only 17? Their physicality won them the game, not saying there aren't technically good players in there too but it was men against boys stuff at times, they eased our smaller players off the ball like they wasn't there most of the time. Physicality always wins you trophies in youth leagues but they often struggle when it comes to stepping up to the premier league and all of a sudden you can't rely on you being bigger and stronger than your opponent. Stick to what we're doing, produce technically good footballers and worry about the physical stuff later on

Land of the giants wasn't it? Couldn't believe how big some of them were. All 6'2+ and dead quick.

TBF, I thought they were just the better team. They were better organised, stronger & just as skillful in the main, if not better over all.

The Chavs have had a 6 year head start on us so I'm not too perturbed. Let's see who starts churning out regular first team standard players. They took Sturridge & SWP from us & fucked them up & sold them on, let's just hope we can retain our best stars of the future & turn them into the foundations of future City first teams unlike The Chavs have up til present.

Bigger, stronger and more organised were Chelsea but this is Youth football and there is always positives to be taken. Wee Nemane was our biggest threat but just needs to work on his end product. Tosin looks solid at the back, heard a lot of praise for this lad and showed it tonight. Maffeo has to be given the opportunity to be Zabas successor, really like the look of him. Garcia and Celina were swamped! But they both showed some glimpses of quality, more so than most of the Chelsea players. How old is Angus Gunn? because that GK was bleeding awful!

First I would not say our keeper on tonight's performance was/is bleeding awful but he is only 16 maybe 17 isn't he? Gunn is 19

Sad about the result but onwards and upwards, lessons will be learnt for the Academy players.

Special mention to 1894 for the Flags and general atmosphere... Enjoyed the band playing too :D

Chelsea much stronger team , more mature, bigger physically, 4th consecutive Final.
City have a way to go. Maybe next year, after another 12 months competition, although I presume some will be over age . City 1 Chelsea 3. 2nd leg to come.

City keeper is 16 very soon 17. massive Norwegian - will learn - defence was jittery first 20 mins.

One thing i didn't really understand is why our fans were choosing to sing first team player specific songs that were totally unrelated to the game tonight. Sing bluemoon sure, but singing the kun aguero song, the zabba song etc is just a bit odd in my eyes.

I don't think there will be that much difference they are just big lads & have been for a while, so they have been able to physically hold their own at a higher age group. Micah Richards was the same. Although they have a cosmopolitan squad, their teams are still pretty much old school Engilsh in that respect. It's easy to be big.

Unfortunately for us, two of our strongest, fastest, hardest working & most talented players were missing. They would be knocking the bigger Chelsea players off the ball, as well as outplaying them and allow us to press in their half, also freeing up Barker.

As for the numpty on this thread talking about us changing our style of play in order to win youth cup games, the fucking point is learning to play it against better standard opposition you fucking tool. We could just sign a load of fucking 9ft monsters & play like Tony Pulis if all we cared about was winning the trophies. The idea is to perfect this, not give up.

For all morons with that attitude, City teams play out from the back. We win plenty doing that and we will produce proper footballers. Get used to it or don't bother fucking watching.

In case you missed the fact anyway, this was the FINAL. If's hardly a fucking failure.

Refreshing to see us trying to pass it out from the keeper, its where most of the errors were made, certainly the last goal.

A lot of positives from the second half, like the first team we just lack that bit of ability to finish off our chances after carving out space in the box.

Enjoyed it , Great see a virtual full house aswell.
