He will be remembered by me as one of my favourite players. Because of ability? No. What it is is his adaptability primarily, but also his attitude. Never has he sulked, moaned when not in the side or thrown a strop. You can tell in the documentary how much he’s liked, too. He’s below the rest if the pack, ability wise, but he makes up for it in what I’ve just said. The best thing he ever did was move to us, and it’s a pleasure to have him.
Many good Prem winning teams have had a utility player who have had great years.

When Micah was our first choice in 2010-11 and 2011-12, winning the FA Cup and Prem, Zaba was a good second choice and even filled in in defensive mid and left back at times.

Milner was this player for us throughout his time with us.

United even had John O’Shea where one season he was instrumental in that role for them. Was even, miraculously, one of the best players on the pitch in one prime-Arsenal v prime-United game at Highbury.

Delph is that player for us now and he’s a better footballer than Mendy. Maybe not as quick, strong or good at crossing as Mendy; but a better passer of the ball and better defender.

Legitimately changed the game when he came on today. We looked miles better at the back.
He has already reaped the rewards of his effort, but there is more to come from him.
