There is no fucking way Delph is worse at defending than Mendy

Mendy gets caught out because he has to bomb onto the LW spot and a winger goes inside, so the goals we've conceded for his side are due to lack of cover. He seemed to cope well enough vs Chelsea and Arsenal. What goal would you say are totally his fault thus far apart from Newcastle?

Would mich rather have Mendy in the squad for any game - at least he can offset his mistakes by an attacking threat.

Mendy hasn't been at fault for many conceded goals, but he is very often beaten by his winger, is often out of position and rarely wins a tackle compared to Delph. Mendy is good against teams that parks the bus, but struggles a lot against teams that attack. Mendy is by far our best LB offensively, and Delph is by far our best LB defensively (despite his error today)

Unsurprisingly looked lost with Sterling in front of him, improved when he had some width to aim at in Sane.

If he plays it should be Sane in front of him.

Problem with Delph he could commit the same brainfart against Bayern or Juventus in a game for the semis or for the final. If he is up against Ribery, Robben or Ronaldo or Bale etc...

All pretty obvious really. Sterling outside him we had no width. Made a completely rare error but gives people chance to have a go.

Looked like a midfielder trying to play fullback, too many times he seemed afraid to play the risky pass. The entire team missed Kev who drives the team forward with pace. To be fair to Delph he was immense last year but Mendy was brought in to play in european games like tonight. I recall the games for Monaco when he showed how effective a top fullback can be. As for Delph, he'll recover as will the entire team - this maybe the kick up the arse they needed.

terrible for there goal and poor at times in general play he has to improve we got away with it last season as a left back as he played well. Once Mendy is back Delph will be on the bench Mendy offers us more.
