We will never know for sure !I'm led to believe that the buy out clause (£8m) was put into his contract in Jan and activated only if a Champs League side came in for him

Terrible attitude to have if he has a fantastic season for villa and other top clubs go for him next summer we should be in the driving seat.. probably not so much after the undeserved reaction he will get at the etihad by airhead fans that don't understand footballNext season ha......fuck im
For him.
To be honest, I am very impressed with how far forward the club has moved the last 7 years. Our economic status and world wide recognition has soared beyond what I could have ever dreamed of, and at times I have to pinch myself to make sure that this isn't just an extended dream or drug induced hallucination.
Now that we have arrived. I will fight to the death to protect my club's image and status. And I will call out any parties that are clearly inefficient at fulfilling their duties to the club, especially considering that they are well compensated to provide such services. With that being said, I'd like to call out the transfer team for their sheer incompetence over the past few years. This is not a knee jerk post. My history clearly shows that I have lamented their approach to recruitment as well as their bizarre choices in players. It seems like there is always a comical errror waiting just around the corner to be made.
You might ask, what can we do if a player just changes their mind?
My answer is, I don't know. It isn't my job, and I have not spent a substantial part of my life gaining experience in how to acquire assets from people or institutions who are not neccessarily willing to part with said assets. The point is that the people who we have hired to do so are expected to have vast experience in this area, hence why they are compensated monetarily. If convincing players is based on chance and not skill, then I will be applying to to replace these people without charging City a thing.
A club of our status should never have to be put through this.

Bullet dodged?Bullet dodged. Not good enough for us, we don't need any more squad players, we need signings to improve the starting XI. Would Delph have done that? In my opinion no.
Plenty of time left in the transfer window, and I still firmly believe we'll sign all three of Sterling, De Bruyne and
Pogba.
I'm very disappointed that the shit signed Schweinsteiger though, he would have been a great signing for us, relatively cheap and without doubt world class. Fucking gutted those heinous wankers got him, we should seriously have gazumped them there. How come they get a free run at him, not even Chelsea or Barca interested to push the price up.

Well that's just embarrassing
I disagree. If we were interested in signing Delph it was because we saw a role for him in our squad, and not because he was cheap and home grown. It was somebodies job at our club to sell Manchester City to him, and to be honest that shouldn't have been a hard sell. The chance to win trophies, to play alongside the likes of Silva, Yaya and Aguero, to play against the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, to play his part in the extremely exciting future that lies ahead at our club, to explain what his role would be and that he would be given plenty of chances to prove his worth. At the end of the day the lad has chosen to play mid-table football (at best), at a club that has zero chance of competing for the title or being in Europe. That's a piss poor decision by Delph and a shit sales pitch by the club. Not at all, like i said earlier this decision says more about him than us
We met the buy out clause and tried to get a HG player on the cheap, it would've been a great bit of business but he's seen the light before he signed.
I can't blame anyone for this situation, City and Delph both made the correct decision, that's the way i see it anyhow

Not sure what's embarrassing about it. He realized that he wouldn't be a regular starter. It is probably the exact opposite of embarrassing, flattering perhaps.
Now, if he had refused to sign for a team with a mediocre midfield, like the rags, that would be another story.
I bet you fucking told him not to sign!Only reason he changed his mind is that Txiki told him Pogba is a done deal, so Delph didnt fancy his chances here.
Im really clutching at straws here.
