We need HG players. He fits the criteria.

He may not be our best midfielder if he signs but City must feel he will play a part in the coming seasons.

Let's give the lad a chance & support him as a City player.

Name me one HG player on the market who'd be a starter? - there isn't one. There's no point complaining that we aren't buying something that doesn't exist.

See, I don't agree with this.

£8m on a squad player who won't make the grade (hypothetical at present of course), a player who doesn't particularly strengthen the squad, letalone the first XI - surely makes less sense than spending more on a worthwhile player who ticks the same quota boxes, but actually has the quality to strengthen both the squad and arguably the first XI, and has a higher potential ceiling of development.

It's a no brainer for me, £30m or even £40m well spent makes much more sense than throwing £8m down the drain.

I also don't like the message it sends to the academy lads. If we're willing to spend millions bringing in, let's be honest here, bang average players just because they meet a quota and have a few PL appearances under their belt, then what message does that send to the academy lads who have real potential, meet those quota requirements, but simply can't get the opportunities to get appearances under their belt - precisely because of pointless moves like this one?

Really don't get it, frankly.

But it allows a spot for pogba or another world class foreign player to come in, his home grown status is much more necessary than his footballing ability and at 8m there arnt many other options that are at the same, albeit fairly mediocre, level as delph

He will play but obviously will be limited, like it would for wilshere if he came until proven otherwise

denayer will be homegrown, lopes and pozo too right? don't they more than replace the outgoing milner and lamps?

If i'm mistaken apologies i'm not too hot on the homegrown policy.

He is far from class. I think you are suffering from blue tinted specs where you are trying to make this out to be bigger than it is. Yes we needed HG players but make no mistake he will not play a big role and will probably leave within a few seasons bemoaning lack of football.
Name me an alternative who fits all the credentials, English, international, good age and £8m

Denayer is a defender and Lopes is an attacking playmaker who plays either on the wing or just off the front.

Both are also under 21 so not classed as homegrown

Welcome to Manchester, one down, three to go!

This is a very astute piece of business on our part.

When you consider we got £2.5m for Sinclair, we are getting an England international for £5.5m.

We tried to buy him for double that price when he was at Leeds and he is has come a long way since then.

He has desire and the legs to give us a major uplift.

And call it football karma. We lost a £20m rated player for free the other week and we are replacing him with a younger upgrade who would also cost £20m plus in normal circumstances.

He absolutely bossed us at the Etihad the other month and dragged Villa back into that game.

Nice work.

I think Delph will play a lot more than some people think. I remember really wanting him at City back when he was a teenager and now he's here albeit not as good as I envisioned but still capable nonetheless.
