Our central midfield will still be rubbish in the big games.

We need a world class central midfielder to real;ly progress on if you ask me, scoring goals has never been an issue under Pellegrini.

Maybe but if Pep comes next summer people think he might bring Thiago with him which would be a great long-term solution to this problem

I will be disappointed if this means he is our alternative to Pogba.

Delph doesn't get in our starting XI as it is.

Decent squad player though and will replace Milner pretty much like for like.

We need a Delph more than a Pogba.

We already have an abundance of attack-minded midfield options; we lost games last season because we surrendered the midfield scrap. Addressing that issue will go a long way to winning the title back.

Pogba is more Zidane than Vieira, despite the lazy, race-related comparisons, and has benefitted from having the mobile and industrious Marchisio next to him in the past 3 years.

Delph can become a Marchisio, or a Gattuso, who's grimy industrial approach glued Milan's midfield of Pirlo, Seedorf and Kaka together. Even at the very top level, you need your workhorses.

This seems a little excessive. Paying 72m for someone who's actually pretty inconsistent is maybe less sensible than signing Delph (homegrown and has his best years ahead of him) for 8m who will improve in our side and will improve the central midfielders in the squad through competition. Buying Sterling and KDB as well as Delph would amount to a very successful transfer window IMO

Really don't think we can go into another European campaign with Yaya, Ferns and Delph as CM options and expect any progress in the competition.

So we have to wait a year and have another season of poor midfield performances?

If we don't get a world class central midfield addition this summer we will win nothing in my opinion.

Whilst I agree on needing more scrap in midfield, Delph is no Gattuso though.

I just don't see him being an addition that will prove worthwhile.
