Fabian Delph

Negotiating hard would be say looking at Kondogbia as a replacement and saying we are getting rid of Caballero to bring in Hennesey for a home grown player.

Txiki - 'If you don't drop your price for Wilshere we will sign Delph instead'
Arsenal - 'You must be off your tits mate go ahead'

And how is Hennessey a better option than Delph? He doesn't even get on the pitch for Palace but you want him to back up for Hart?

You lay out a simplistic conversation above, but you fail to acknowledge nuances such as another team's transfer budget, their list of targets, and the fact, like Liverpool with Sterling, that they need the money to get the players they want, so have to make certain sacrifices in the window. A buying club, especially if they have a Director of Football so well connected he'll know who's likely going where, can exploit this by hard-balling, knowing the selling club is stuck between losing out on the income and missing out on one of their own transfer targets, especially if the value of that asset has already depreciated in the prior season for whatever reason.

Can only see him being an option if we miss out on Wilshire, not Pogba. We are not that stupid.

Sterling will replace Milner but we need someone to replace Lampard, for me that will be either Wilshire or Delph.

Hennesey is fucking shit yet still better than that shower who takes up the foreign spot on the bench.

The simple fact is we seem to have an inability to come up with a plan B. I wouldn't mind if I knew this was all a negotiating tactic but history (Hazard - Sinclair, De Rossi - Garcia, Fernando) shows we tend to do the stupid. We haven't signed a top class player for nearly 4 years and maybe the simple fact is we don't have the men with the ability to do so

Wayne Hennessey is in no way, better than Willy Caballero, simple as.

Secondly, Fernando was Plan A, so although I agree that he's a poor signing, he wasn't an "alternative".

I think Txiki's record at Barca shows he can buy top class players over other big clubs. There are various reasons why we haven't signed a marquee name for the past 4 years, but we will rectify that this summer, the first 2 examples were done before Txiki and his system, was in place.

The tarquin fucker isn't doing transfers anymore so I'm going to stay nice and relaxed. After all, MDM and Negredo weren't bad plan Bs.

True but to go from Pogba to Delph would make us a laughing stock and set us up for a season of struggling for Top 6 with the 4 S's: Scousers, Southampton, Spurs and Scum.

I wouldn't mind us signing Delph to be honest, sometimes it's the unfashionable players who really make a team tick. I dont for one minute think he is a fallback if we miss out on Pogba. More likely to be a replacement for Lampard.
one of the very few England international players I would have.

Seeing as we have plenty of money to spend this summer I doubt anybody would be laughing if we were to sign another A lister instead of Pogba. Say Bale or Robben.

How underwhelming is it though?

Missing out on Hazard and buying Sinclair stuff that.

Txiki must be wearing his official Manchester United club shop tie to the office if he thinks Delph is the answer to anything!
So do you believe every rumour you hear as fact, or just ones that fit your agenda?

It's not so much the A lister, albeit I do think we need to make a statement, but our midfield is our biggest concern in my opinion and not getting a world class midfielder will really cost us big time next season.

Even if the speculation is true and we are in for him where anywhere in the speculation does it say he's targeted instead of Pogba and not alongside him. We have lost Lampard and Milner who could both play centrally. I m not sure Sterling or De Bruyne would be able to play centre mid in our system so maybe we are after two central players.

Would anyone turn there nose up at Delph alongside the three mentioned? Personally I'd prefer Wilshere or Ward Prowse but maybe the management see Delph as more workmanlike than Wilshere and more developed than Ward Prowse. We need homegrown and there aren't that many about.

Meh. Gundögan is available, so is Schweinsteiger.

No agenda here. Just flapping. Because if that kind of rumour (from numerous sources) doesn't cause a bit of panic then you must be incredibly nonchalant regarding our next season!

But Delph is not an A lister. If we were linked with another A-lister, then fine! But we're linked with a D-Lister.

Like going from Johnny Depp to Johnny Drama!

P.S. I realise Johnny Drama is fictional.
