While the Sinclair signing was a weird one, there was genuine hope that Rodwell could become a permanent fixture in the side if he could stay injury-free which throughout his time here, he couldn't manage. Remember, he was very good at Everton and was dubbed one for the future.

With Delph, it's simply a signing that would give us better quality back-up. I don't think there's an expectation there for him to become a world-beater
