He has improved greatly these last couple of years, and playing alongside Yaya and Silva will only improve him.
Agree.Had a good season for a woeful Villa team. Low risk purchase a la Barry. Mind you there were still those who constantly criticised and undervalued Barry throughtout his City career.
Just to be clear I am not a fully paid up member the Delph fan club and initally was dsimissive of this transfer However the more you analyse it the more it makes sense for us. Whatever your view it cannot be doubted that he has improved significantly from the player we looked at signing from Leeds. Mind you our yellow card count will shoot up this year.

The only time he'll be playing alongside yaya and merlin is in a 5 a side in training.

Wouldn't surprise me to see this line up at some stage in the season, and I'd fancy this side against anybody in the League.

No Pogba?

I dont think he will ever get a game for us..its just like sinclair or rodwel all over again.not good enuogh.just my opinion

I agree. As an alternative to improving himself working in and around the kind of supreme talent that we have at City, he'd be better-off being the bigger fish in a smaller pond - perhaps in a mid-table bang-average outfit like Villa, Everton or the Rags.

Injuries, suspensions, rotation, cup games.
Yet you have probably our strongest XI in the rest of your team and the only players seemingly rotated/suspended/injured are to accomodate Delph...

Really don't get why so many are against this signing. I think most are just turning their noses up at his name without actually thinking about it. We've got 3 centre midfielders at the minute. If we're playing 4-5-1 next season we need a minimum of 2 additional midfielders. 1 is hopefully going to be Pogba, so we need somebody else who's predominantly going to be cover.

If we brought in somebody who isn't homegrown, we'd have to sell somebody before we can register them. So then the question is who? I imagine we're looking to offload dzeko/Jovetic and replace them with KDB and Pogba which leaves us with a full quota. Fernando? It still leaves us a midfielder short. So really we're limited to bringing in a homegrown player.

Looking at the options in that area, Wilshere? expensive, Arsenal unwilling to sell, Wilshere unlikely to want to leave, Wilshere unlikely to be willing to be cover and made of glass. Song? Ticks the cheap box, probably be willing to come to us, however he's not the type of player we need. He's lazier than Yaya. Doesn't get around the pitch quick enough and doesn't press enough. Delph? well, he is cheap, looks as though he's willing to come, young enough and offers many of the qualities were losing from Milner departing, Great energy, runs all day, will press as much as Milner or Fernandinho does and gets stuck in.

From city's point of view it's a no brainer, and whilst he's not particularly exciting, i think he'll quickly gain Milner standard appreciation.

To put it in perspective fulham are asking £10m for Patrick Roberts an under 17 England player.
As opposed to £8m for a current prem captain and experienced England international.
