This is the first sign I am getting that Pep is thinking about adapting himself a little to the Premier League.

In an ideal world he would have lots of small technical midfield players, but I think he has caught onto the fact that to do that in England it would be an incredibly difficult feat to achieve

I think putting this lad in who is technically very good but offers us some steel as well, he looks a good signing.

I think you're falling foul of some stereotypes that aren't really true.

Pep's always had physical players around - Yaya, Busquets, Keita, Vidal, Javi Martinez, Xabi Alonso...the list goes on. He's always known you need some muscle to give yourself a platform, he just wants his big guys to be technically good as well.

True but I wonder if he'll try and move. He'll know that he's not got a chance of going to the world cup if he's sat behind Fabinho 90% of the time.

Given his demeanour this season, I think a move is best for him. He's been awful for most of the season and looks miserable to boot. The days of an energetic Fernandinho are gone, so if we can sell him it's a no brainer for me.

Zin - weren't there rumblings this was all but done some time ago? Haven't heard much recently but lots of positive talk prior.

There was a few whispers that we wouldn't deal with Mendez on the grounds that he was 'exclusively' dealing with the rags, which I think were planted in the desired places, I think this impacted the gathering momentum regarding Ederson.... id say though that unlike last year, we've handled the rumours excellently to not demotivate the current squad in the push for CL

I still wonder if he'll be able to control games like Yaya from the base of the midfield, but am looking forward to finding out.

He can't do it to the same extend as Yaya as he doesn't have the same passing range, and we can't really get anyone who can do that, so Yaya will still have his uses against teams which sit very deep (like West Brom and the rags), Fabinho tends to keep things more simple (more of a Busquets/Lahm midfielder than an Alonso/Yaya).

He's far better defensively though (which we desperately need as we've been far too vulnerable to counter attacks) and is also the best player I've seen in a long time at starting counter attacks as whenever he wins a tackle he manages to keep the ball so close to himself and immediately sends his players away, Monaco have scored an unreal amount of goals that start with him winning the ball and quickly unleashing their quick players. If we get him I think it'll be a dream for him to look up and see Sterling, Sané and De Bruyne (and potentially Walker) sprinting up the pitch.

Would love this. In a midfield 3 behind Silva and KDB predominant, Gundogan, Dinho and Toure options? Great CM squad if it happens.

Please be true, he really would be a great addition at CM and would solve our issue of cover/depth at RB too.

I think there's a reasonable chance it could happen too, particularly if we aren't in on Mendy or Mbappe. We know Txiki met with Monaco's president about a specific target, could be Fabinho all along.

@tolmie's hairdoo also stated a few days back Fabinho might be back on.
