Then something happens and they only have a short time to act. I remember watching Seville vs Getafe and saw Antonio Puerta have a heart attack, obviosuly I can't say for certain but I'm damn sure it was because of quick actions that meant he was able to get up and walk to the dressing room. Unfortunatly he then had another attack in the dressing room and died in hospital.
They regularly have to deal with broken limbs and serious injuries in all sports
The police come and go but the medical staff are essential.
Yes but I didn't quite mean that. I meant for example take City home games. How often do you see the medical staff come on the pitch and deal with an incident? Plenty of times I've seen them walk to the touchline watching some cheat lie on the floor in agony and then get up as if touched by Jesus. Despite these idiots they have to stay alert and be ready even if it doesn't look genuine.
Football in general. I've seen more fans run onto the pitch due to game watching/pocket-money-for-a-few-hours-of-wearing-a-high-vis-coat-Stewards than I have seen medical staff need to treat players due to a serious incident. Thus what I mean is it's all too easy to switch off, but medical staff can't afford to and so full credit to them.
Indeed. I think we're in complete agreement. :)
