Never heard of it. Not a pub, is it a knocking shop?Anyone been to a venue called Loose Cannon on Oldham Road?
Is it tiny?
It use to be called Baldy Bobs. Its now been turned into a live music venue. They had an Oasis tribute band on last weekend £10 a ticket. Twas also the north mcr raggy supporters club not to long ago. Not tiny but its £4 for a shit beer apparantly.Anyone been to a venue called Loose Cannon on Oldham Road?

I've just agreed a short term let in Failsworth whilst I find somewhere more permanent to live. I barely know the place so what can I expect? It's a stones throw from the metro and Oldham Road too. Any decent pubs in the area for sport? I'll be looking to watch Fury v Klitschko II not long after I move there.
Middleton will be the eventual goal but I'm looking forwards to somewhere new. I can't wait to leave London after ten years graft.

Do the locals in Failsworth still have a big problem when someone asks where they are from and they reply "Failsworth" they are answered "Oldham then"
It's what used to be Kehoes and Baldy Bobs. Seems it's had a lick of paint and being rebranded as a live music venue. Probably get about 200 in the part that used to be Kehoes. Have seen the New Order tribute advertised for this Friday and am half tempted.

As a Newton Heath lad, I moved to and lived in Failsworth for ten years, and was mercilessly called a Biffo by mates for living there. Bastids.
I used the 'Manc postcode' response, but then got shot down with the 'Who do you pay yer council tax to?' killer retort.
No Regrets ?I remember seeing The Walker Brothers at The Broadway Club on Oldham Road in 1973.
Even went backstage to meet them after the show.
Lol!

It's been taken on by the people that ran the Ruby Lounge in town. (Before being evicted at Christmas as the whole block is being 'redeveloped' ... ie, more shite flats and a Costa etc)
They ran the Ruby Lounge well for sure, and attracted many good bands. Hopefully they can do the same in 'Baldy Bob's' .... But they need a) to keep the local knobs out. (A door charge usually does that, the tighfisted twats won't pay for feck all) and b) Get the south Manc softarses over their fear of travelling beyond the N4 for stuff. I recall the old Osbourne Club on Oldham Rd in Colyhurst becoming The Thunderdome, a live rock venue and nightclub .... attracted a good few name acts (Motorhead even ...) but eventually died due to said softarses being afraid to go to deepest darkest Collyhurst. To be fair, it was the 80's and far rougher than now, lol.
Another thing that may help them, is to stop saying in their flyers that you can get a tram to Failsworth for it. You can, but then it's a half mile walk. Hollinwood Station is much closer.
Mate's Scorpions tribute band (Scorpyons ... decent too. The singer ofted deputises in a German tribute) are booked there for May .... will see how it goes.
They used to charge a fiver in the Amber Club and that was pretty full most weekends.
Manchester 35, no?When I lived there my address was Failsworth, Manchester 10.
The schools were Oldham school board.
