well true, but please tell me who would be the likely boss who you think would play Yaya and Spanish Dave as the 2 most defensive midfield players, and who would also buy Bale and play him on the right (as the other poster pointed out)? Cannot ever see that happening pal

It's a team I'd love to see play, agree though that the likelihood of happening is slim but we would dominate possession with YaYa picking up from defence and also be able to counter attack quickly with pace. The formation is fluid and Zabaleta role would be more to screen the 2centre backs allowing Micah to move inside and cover or create overlap on right hand side.

It works perfectly in my mind. Either way would love to be in the position to give it a try

shit I hadn't noticed you had Zaba at left back too, I also cannot see that working long term

It's all fantasy anyway but I could see how this works, team moves to back 3 as it attacks with Zabaleta given instruction that he is to play defensive role and move to shield back 2/3 Like De Jong when in possession.

Micah also capable of moving to central defence and fluid back 3and back 4.

Agreed that someone like Ramires (Fernandinho?) beside YaYa in the Silva role would be ideal, perhaps moving Silva into Isco position in front 3

What would you like to see?

The beauty of the 3 fluid 2 footed false 10s is that it's a nightmare to defend against.

As a centre half do you go to the ball and leave back line exposed or even greater risk let them run at you with pace?

As a full back it's even bigger nightmare, do you show them inside or let them go outside?

Either way so much concentration required to defend that Falcao exploits the space caused by the commotion

What about the reported signings/interest in Fernandinho (beside Yaya) and Navas (instead of Bale)??

Unless we play a back 3, we are going to be hard pushed to find a place for Silva...unless of course Aguero goes...which of course I don't want...

You asked what I think, personally I reckon it is likely to be a fluid formation which might change from 4-2-3-1 to 4-4-2 and back within games. I cannot see a lot being spent at the back apart from a new number 2 keeper, so a back 5 of

Hart
Zaba Kompany Nastasic Clichy

In terms of back up, at CB/LB I assume Kolo and Kolarov will go but I think Lescott will stay, Rekik move properly into full squad, and we will look to bring in a lower cost central defender (Nov... maybe) and a lower cost younger left back. Richards as back up right back (and maybe regular right back depending on who is playing the best) as well as back up centre back if needed

Midfield I would see Yaya and Fernandinho (or similar) as the 2 more defensive mids, with some licence to get forward, and then probably Silva, Aguero and Isco in front of them, with Falcao (or similar) up top, and with Aguero being the player to move further up to make it a 4-4-2 depending on opposition or how the game is going (and in any event further forward than the other 2).

I imagine Tevez and Dzeko are likely to leave, although if either are happy to be squad players I would be happy for 1 to stay - if they both leave I see another young and lower cost forward coming in, and in any event I am sure that Gudetti will be a regular first team squad member next season.

I also would have Milner and Barry in the squad - for me Milner would be in every City team, but I am not sure that MP will see it that way - I do think he will like Milner when he has spent time working with him and watching him. Barry would be an essential squad member for me - extremely undervalued by many and one of the best performers this season, in my opinion

I also reckon we will see a fair bit of difference between CL and PL teams - with Barry, Milner, Lescott, Richards more likely to get PL game time and less likely in CL.

I also think there is a good chance we might get Arjen Robben, but we will not hear anything on that until at least the week after next - it would be hard to fit him in and he would not come to be a squad player, but he is apparently unwanted by Pep, so we could be a sensible destination. I am also assuming there must be legs in the Navas rumours, but I am not sure he would play every game - probably start half the games and be on the bench for the others, depending on who the opposition is, and when not playing he would be available as a potential "game changer" from the bench. I presume that Silva and Isco would have a certain amount of freedom in terms of dictating the play from all over the pitch, with some need to get wide, with additional full back support for width.

Not really sure about Nasri - I think he is the most 50:50 stay:go player in the squad, but on balance I think he may well go to PSG for a new challenge and change of scenery. I also think Rodwell, Suarez, Lopez will be key squad players, under MP, assuming by the way that it is to be MP.

I am pretty sure that Bale and Ronaldo will not be coming to City - the former I would like but cannot see as being attainable, especially under FFP, and especially given the other purchases; the latter would be too expensive anyway and I personally hate his gifted guts and would prefer to live without him.

Re: Falcao & Cavani - Update Thread

I'm sure that we will be FFP compliant but it is not true that we couldn't afford Bale and/or Ronaldo and still be so.

I suspect we may well lose several first team players, some to be replaced by "stars" and some to be replaced by existing first teamers and, more pertinently, some of the EDS.

Names have oft been mentioned but there is potential for significant wage reduction using new bonus based contracts with new purchases set for amortised funding.

Re: Falcao & Cavani - Update Thread

As an example, Kolarov is replace by Clichy and Greg Leigh, Joleon replaced by Nasty and Rekik, Barry replaced by Milner and Razak.

Then we have Falcao allegedly replacing possibly Tevez and Dzeko with John Guidetti as understudy to Aguero and Falcao.

There are more changes planned clearly but if you then replace say Nasri with Suarez you begin to see how these sweeping changes, combined with bonus based contracts and more EDS flow, can make such a difference.

Further sponsorship of the complex, additional ground development and the new football deal, in addition to the above, can start to make huge strides in terms of potential recruits to the first team.

That's assuming those lads are all ready to step up. I am all for promoting through the ranks but not if they are not ready to come into a team fighting for a title.

Re: Falcao & Cavani - Update Thread

True and that's good management for you. Knowing who's ready, how many and in which games.

I agree with most of that and don't think we need any wholesale changes at the back.
I like Nasri and hope he stays but needs to add much more goals from midfield. I don't particularly want to to sign Robben as he has dodgy knees and comes with an element of risk.

I used to like Jesus but not seen much of him lately, what about the lad Camacho at Malaga?

I have always loved Milner and I'm sure he has a place in the squad. Barry is one of our most consistent players, Silvas choice for player of the season year before last but think we may need someone younger and hungrier to battle for midfield spot, I'm also a bit mouthed as it seems he was one of the front runners in getting Mancini the boot.

I'd love to see Bale here as he has exactly what we are after but fear he will join the rags along with Fellaini.

All for promoting youth if they are good enough, Guidetti, Lopes and Rekik will hopefully make the next step up and get good game time
