Are we Arsenal now? Why are you concerned about our net spend?

He's not. FFP is.

Maybe the club should grow a pair and tell Napoleon where to stuff his elitist rule. We tried the penny pinching way last summer and look where it got us. Major changes needed not just to the starting 11 but the squad as a whole,in order to do that we have to spend big just like the self proclaimed "elite" will do this summer.

Hasn't FFP recently been proven to be in contradiction to European law as trade restrictive?

If a rich arab Sheikh was to take over HMV and plough £10 Billion into it nobody would be allowed to stop them trading on the basis that their expenditure far out ways their income - even if they were making a huge loss.

So FFP means we have to recuperate every penny we spend in the transfer market? Can we not make money from any other source to cover some of our outgoings?

Maybe next season the ST's will go up by 20% instead of 10%.

No, There is a lawyer ( the guy who was part of the Bosman legal team ) who thinks it is and has launched a legal big against FFPR, but I would think it will be years before anything is proven, It looks like the Bosman ruling took 5 years to go through the courts.

And yes, if someone came in and did that to a shop like HMV, and were undercutting competition then the EU competition laws would kick in.

This, unfortunately.

However, there is nothing stopping us breaking FFP and opting to spend a year outside of European competition.

It's not like we need the Champion's League revenue, is it?

Would top players come if they are guaranteed not to play in Europe?

I don't think many are as bothered as they make out, as long as they're picking up a decent wage.

You usually only hear the "I want to play in the Champion's League" talk when players are after a move.

Not sure if this is a serious comment or not but the answer is that yes we do.

However even under FFP we can still spend money each season. We're also getting to the stage where we'd need to sell off we brought someone in a we would struggle to accommodate too many top notch players.
