Fan Behaviour

That’s bizarre isn’t it? Gypsies, they’re mad as hell. Always remember as a youth, passing a gypo site on my bike once and out comes this little kid about 10 yrs old running towards me with a thick rope full of knots trying to get me off my bike. He had absolutely no fear and was clearly looking for a fight.
Keep going.... what happened next?.

It's not. At all.
I do 90% away games and yeah there's a few lads at it you notice but majority are pissed up.
Overall our away following is old and tame compared to most.

True.
It is when away tickets become more accessible, either because of numbers like at Cup ties, or European ties, when a different element obtain tickets.
They are often drugged up and acting like nobs , ususually mob mentality takes over and a contest occurs to prove who is the biggest yob.
It is sad to witness at times.
All clubs have the same issue, how it is reported depends on the club.

Having supported the club for a long time, I was always proud of the group of lads I went to away matches with, we drank for Manchester, had great banter with away fans and didn't get into bother.

It is a choice, these idiots choose to be morons.

This thread could have a few additions on Saturday, I can well imagine fighting in the queues.

Looking at it now it could be anyone of us holding the queue up and refusing to hike to the TO for the opportunity to queue again for God knows how long. I'm going nowhere if I can't get in, I'm sure we'd all be the same with the full support of all stood there but fast forward to 2.45 an angry mob trying to get in and one person refusing to move at the front.

is it worth turning up without a print at home ticket?

No excuse but the stewarding at Spurs was bordering on appalling, they were bullies. Just as many lads were having their first day out in a long while, it was the stewards first chance to throw their weight around. Before the game they were humourless, during the game they were sour faced and after the game they bordered on intimidating towards some. I approached a steward asking to speak to a supervisor and was ignored, some younger lads were manhandled out, i have no idea why and the police stood and watched. I chose to leave early because the concourse was dangerous it was that slippy and as a spacker i was in danger of falling. I wanted to genuinely say to the supervising steward having cleaners mopping the floors before the game had ended was madness and it was dangerous and I was ignored and brushed aside as though I did not matter.

You lot can blame lads being coked up or hammered as much as you like, but even if they were and I saw no evidence of it, it does not excuse the intimidation of the stewards. One of the major issues for anyone following football away in the 70s and 80s was intimidation from Police who made you feel unwelcome, now the Police are not so bad it is the stewards who are the bullies. If you treat people like animals, they will behave like animals. If you bully fans expect reaction, if you intimidate, expect to be intimidated back.

Not every club is like this, some have superb stewards, Leicester's are superb, Everton's are good, the ones at Liverpool are cunts, the ones at Spurs were cunts and we all know the ones at the Etihad can be jobsworth fuckers at best.

99.9% of football fans are great, they just want to watch football and not be subjected to authoritarian diktat from a steward who probably doesn't even like football, nor understand the passions it arouses.

It doesn't have to be like this, but as long as stewards have arbitrary powers it will continue, because some stewards will be cunts.

Do stewards have legal authority to manhandle you nowadays?

This bit concerns me. They probably used the same paint, or firm, that they used to paint the concourse in the south stand in 2015, remember that? People going over like ninepins because it was done wrong, myself included. I ended up with a bleed on the brain and a four year legal battle with City which was settled out of court. Madness, they've had plenty of times to test it at Spurs due to the pandemic.
