Fantastic Season

No but not better than ours. Unless you think winning yesterday final trumps winning the league and a cup. I don’t
To be so close and favourites to lift a trophy that none of us have ever seen be lifted is just so galling

We have played three games against them whilst fielding different players but deploying similar tactics. They set up to nullify our strengths and have done it each time. Each of the three games felt very similarand had a similar outcome.
Next season we need a different tactical plan against them.
Spot on but the trouble is when the whole club, whole footballing group even, is structured top to bottom to facilitate a particular way of playing then to change that for specific games can be very hard to do successfully.

Not even close to equal IMO .I ‘ve always liked the c/l always want to win it but tthe league always comes first and top cor me, always will. Over a one off final.

Taking personal preference out of it the CL is the biggest club trophy and the hardest one to win. The domestic cups relevance have sadly been devalued by the Premier league and Champions league.

Sorry, with respect, I disagree and for two key reasons: i) we have won the league several times recently, we win the Rumbleows Cup year in year out, but the European Cup... that was our first appearance in the final. I would have considered winning this and nothing else a better season than the one we actually had.

ii) Can I add this as well. Man Utd have won it, Liverpool have won it including very recently, these are our two biggest rivals in my opinion and a win yesterday would have put us up a notch in the whole scheme of things, the whole ‘history’ issue.

I’m very, very sad today.

A further kick in the bollocks is had we won we would have been within one of Chelsea in the overall titles if the table I saw is correct. We are now 3 behind. Historically we are poor in Europe so we need to improve. Now there is only 2 comps in Europe and we qualify for the CL most seasons we need to win the bloody thing.

Right so winning the league and a cup isnt great because we do it a lot. Think I m off here for the day too many city fans on here pissing me off more than the result. Off to enjoy the sun

Given that we had no preseason, many injuries and covid cases, and that we were 12th in November, the season has been nothing short of fantastic: just 3 wins off the quadruple!

To expect that we can win everything when our star striker Kun is crocked or over the hill, and our 2nd most productive forward (Sterling) is off form, is unrealistic, especially given that Kevin also wasn't at his best compared to 19/20. Yet we fought for everything and were just 3 wins away from pulling it off. Amazing!

Thanks to Pep and the players! Love you all! We'll reinforce the team in the summer and fight for all trophies again.

Look, I don’t want to piss off my fellow citizens today (of all days) but this place is a forum for discussion and I think my point is a valid one.

It is not just that we win the league often, but this season we won it by miles. When we won 21 out of 22 it was amazing, but did it have an effect on the team that manifested itself in a performance last night that was underwhelming and where the other side seemed sharper. Perhaps the fact Chelsea had to fight right to last Sunday kept their players ‘in the zone’ whereas three weeks ago we were able to ease back and last night that came back to bite us....

Maybe, if we had decided three back to back league cups is a brilliant achievement so let’s play the kids in this Covid impacted season (even if it meant getting knocked out early doors) things might have been different last night. Who knows, but it’s a viewpoint and I’m entitled to make it.
