Fasting Diet

Within the last three weeks I bastard jumped up to 18.2 stone and thought fuck this.I have that many shirts that wont even go near me.With my holidays coming up there is no way I`m getting into a pair of swimming trunks looking like a fucking hippo. However my main concern at my age is my health.
Within three weeks I`ve dropped down to 17.5 stone and likewise as some have done,I`m back on the 5-2 diet, but I`ve already started to have no suppers and snacks apart from walnuts which are supposedly good for you.
See you next season when I hope I`m down to 15.0 stone as a minimum.

Dunno how you do that! I would think getting your brain to do a fast daily would be better for longevity and not be tempted to fook it off at a later date!

I must be wrong!

I've merged as there is good info on this existing thread, especially from @Dirty Harry

Whilst that's fair enough, there's plenty of subjects on here that have been repeated less than 5 years ago!

I would do it. We eat too much when not needed. I’m sure you could eat hardly eat anything at least once a week (on the weekend?)

I take Monday as a fast day, so go from Sunday early evening to Tuesday Morning without eating. Easier to do if you pick a typically busy day as you forget you're hungry and when you get home are so tired you go straight to bed.

I've put on about a stone this year and want to lose it, started running a couple of times a week but I think as I enjoy food and beer a bit too much isn't having mush effect.

But I think I could do this 5:2 diet where you eat what you want 5 days of the week but only 600 calories for 2. There was an horizon programme on it and it also makes you live longer aparently.

1. Has anyone done it?
2. I've no idea how many calories in anything, if I didn't eat all day then had a proper tea would that be about right. Obviously not a kebab for tea but something healthy.
I did it a couple of years ago. Having been on a large dose of steroids for 3years or so, i put on 3 and a half stone.
I lost 3 stone in 6 months on the fast diet. But then i had to go back on steroids and put it all back again. Just starting again!
I find 600 cals hard to do, but, even harder is the no alcohol on diet days rule. So, i modified the diet while allowing myself some wine at night. My changes were: dont eat whatever you like on non diet days, but cut out all white carbs, so nothing containing refined flour or sugar. NO CAKE, YAYA. I dont take sugar in tea, coffee anyway. Genuine wholegrain bread only. A "normal" evening meal may take you over 600, if you eat anything else that day. NO PUDS.

Typical diet day: 2 eggs for breakfast, lunch small piece of smoked fish, fruit in pm, soup for evening meal. That will do about 400 cals, so you can have one drink!
Tips: if not hungry in morning, miss breakfast and eat better lunch.
Eat lots of veg, they will fill you up without too many calories, especially greens, do this every day but esp.the day before a diet day, it will see you thru. Broccoli is magic.
Dont count calories, it will drive you mad.
Get the book: "The Fast Diet Recipe Book by Mimi Spencer" really good. Calories given for each recipe. You will be surprised at how many good dishes have few calories.
Use lots of herbs and spices, if you find veg boring.
Be patient. Taste bud cells only last five days, so you get used to no sugar within, say, 2 weeks.
Spirits contain less fattening agents than wine or beer. Drink diet lager.
Good luck!

Gone from my bacon butty at 11 until now. 4 hours. Am struggling.

Fasting and any such restrictive diets will only work in the short term, they dont teach you healthy eating and in a few months you will be back to where you began, when eating try to think natural, only eat stuff that's not processed or has sugar or salt added and you don't go far wrong.
Thats right, so you have to learn how to eat healthily at the same time as dieting.
