Wouldn’t say it was great or not but, 1979 the first family car we had was a Vauxhall Viva. Still remember the reg to this day and use it as a password. It got us to the dippers 1981 League Cup Semi, Everton and Villa Park FA Cup games too.

My stepdad traded it for an Austin Princess eventually and that was a right bag of shite.

Was going to say that you can't wrong with one of those but that's not strictly true as I was lucky to not get killed in one. So I'll rephrase, you can't go wrong if you're not a crap driver! To your point not sure there was much to touch them in terms of fun for the money. Though doubtless someone will be along soon to bang on about Evo's.

My grandad had the austin ambassador.

Edit: Drove the car in the wet today... Liked it so I've requested the Ice Silver (But may change to Grey or Blue once I go firm with the order after Toyota have confirmed I have a build slot

That colour has been discontinued sadly (I think)

The only blue now is a boring metallic

I’m thinking silver

I had two of those. The first was wonderful but the second had all that catalytic converter crap and was nowhere near as good.
