My friends son (my mechanic) has a few of these ‘projects’ from the 70s, including a 1.3, which always seemed mad to me, a 1.3 engine in a Capri !

Mine was my Old ‘Ford Probe’, fantastic car, boot space was incredible, with the back seats down could easily get a full size trial motorbike in there, lovely to drive, had to go in the end as the parts were fuckin astronomical, things I was paying £5, £10 for for previous Fords, was paying £125 for the Probe, new starter motor £695 (as it happens, was a bit of a scam really as it was only the solenoid in the SM that was going on them, which you could change, but many mechanics never told you that).

I always wanted a Datsun 240z & managed to buy a 260z 2 seater in around 1988,
Beautiful looking car with wolfrace alloys, straight 6 engine all for £1200 & thought I was the dogs dangly bits until it rusted away over about 3 years,
Took it for a mot & it failed, the bloke said it would cost around £400 to weld it up & at the time I could not afford it so sold the car for around £600,
God knows what it would be worth now just for spares?
More than 30k.

Land Rover Defender 90. Ideally in blue or green with a white roof and steel wheels.

They're crazy expensive now for what they are but a few years ago you could pick one up for fuck all.

i can honestly say the best car ive ever had is a ford mondeo estate, ive had it 5 years never had a minutes problem, they are huge inside ,so tip runs, fishing or moving stuff is rarely a problem , and its really nice looking(imo) and nice inside

Yeah but girls liked em. A lot.

Me at Bredbury Hall early 70s after quite along chat with nice looking girl "can I give you a lift home"
Girl "oh ok"
Leaves club and walks to shiny immaculate 3 Litre Capri.
Girl "Oh nice car.....fancy a shag ? "
“You can fuck right off, you’re not staining my upholstery.”
