5. Kendall ( briefly)

Worst:

Hughes

Ball

so of all the managers City have had in history, you would put the man who brought Kompany, Zaba, DeJong, Barry, Lescott, Tevez, Bellamy, basically half the title winning side as the worst ?

Yes, I would. In general, scouts find players and once the money arrived, the club could buy the best available. Hughes also bought his own man - RSC for a ridiculous fee.

He was all ego and very little ability and, in my opinion, he held us back. Plus his attitude towards the younger players was despicable. I'm quite surprised that Stoke have given him another go at management actually.

So what if Hughes bought Zaba or Kompany. They were a shadow of the players they are now.

Mancini made them the players they are individually and the squad a unit that won trophies consistently.

It all came crashing down at the end of it but Hughes did nothing in comparison to Mancini.

fair enough i just find it odd that by taking over a team and by the time he left we had improved were higher up the table and he was in charge when we signed players who will go down as City legends you would use that to make the call as the worst ever City manager, but all about opinions

Mancini in my lifetime followed by Tony Book. Mancini never kow towed to no fucker especially the pissed up lieing twat of a manager at O/T infact i think he relished taking him on and whipping the senile bastard at every opportunity. Won us trophies something i only evet dreamt of for 30 odd years. Won us a title in the greatest ever way possible and i doubt ever to be beaten. A manager that from day one outlined his philosophy, if your not mentally strong enough (and thats every bit as important) then your out. I wish to god we had the bollocks to stand by him give him 90m to spend on his players and not sinclair/garcia shit. I wish to god the board would have said ok if your not buying into this then fuck off elsewhere for lower wages less chance of success but at least your fragile egos will be entact. Forza Mancini!
Great post blue 2112,agree with every word.

Definitely

I can't believe the number of posters that are excluding Joe Royle from their lists.

He played for us, turned the club around; gave us one of our ever greatest moments; bought, stood by and nurtured a genuine club icon in the Goat; left the club in a much better state than he found it and has never slagged the club or its supporters off.

I also feel he appreciated what makes this club and its supporters tick far more than some of the other managers that are being advanced.
