Favourite Gangster Movies

I love the Cagney ones-White heat- Public enemy- Angels with dirty faces- G men. all running around like the Ant Hill mob.
The Departed I thought was one of the best most recent movies.

I thought about it, but I don't regard it as a gangster film. I know it is, but I regard the story ones like Goodfellas and Casino as true gangster films, because they are about the Mafia. Could throw Boyz 'n The Hood in and all sorts because they are gangster films, but not about the mob.

yep I guess the OP was on about Mafia type films so it Goodfellas definately for me

also think the character Benny in City Of God is one of the best gangsters in film

all totally eclipsed by the genius of the sopranos
