Favourite visit to the swamp?

Last time I went was the 4-2 defeat in the FA Cup against 10 men! I was that pissed off that I left at 3-0 down and missed 3 goals including both of ours. I vowed never to go again and I haven’t been since so never seen us win there.

The 2-2 before the Members Cup final was good coming back from 2-0 down!

I can recall going to Old Trafford for League matches starting in 1967-1968 and ending in 1973-1974. City won six of those seven matches and drew the other one. The first was the 3-1 win that set up the League Championship run-in and the last was the 1-0 Denis Law backheel match that ended with relegation for United.

I have to select the 1968 3-1 win. I went to Old Trafford with some United supporting work colleagues and really enjoyed their discomfort as City recovered from an early George Best goal to win the match with as commanding a performance as I had seen against United.

I emigrated to NZ in 1974 so my favourites are from the days of black and white TV (well almost) ........................................
1955 - we beat them 5-0 - my second ever game
1969-70 - we drew 2-2 in the League Cup semi-final second leg when Buzzer scored from an indirect free kick that Stepney got a hand to so it counted.
1974 - when Denis back heeled them into Division 2

Not been to a game at the Swamp since 1990, only seen City win once in 74 but the most enjoyable one was in March 1978 when we drew 2-2 after being two goals down always remember me and my mate sat on the bus on Trafford Road after the game trying to look miserable like everyone else was but buzzing inside. Don't think we spoke to each other till we got off the bus

Some weird replay of a replay vs Luton. Squidged into the stretford end. 2-0 down, came back to win 3-2.

i went to that It was in 77 but even better was Walsall replay in Oct 73 again played at Swamp Franny got a hat trick. Thereby he became the top goal scorer at OT by October might be wrong here but something tells me the second highest was Stepney think he’d started taking their penalties

April 1986 first leg Youth Cup Final at the swamp battered them but only drew 1-1 Gary Walsh had a blinder in goals for them. Only 7600 there but 7000 were blues most in Stratford End. Beat them 2-0 in second leg at Maine Rd 18500 the same 500 / 600 rags I guess filled a couple of rows in Platt Lane. We seriously f@#£Ed up as this should have been the start of a golden era

Memory is going but think I’ve been to 11 W3 D4 L4

First of as a nipper in the early 80s when we pulled off a couple of draws were special, we were 2-0 up in 1 at HT and there it away, their fans were utter scum back then too, spitting, coins etc...

Was also there when the duplicitous Giggs stole the OG off Colin Hendry and the press backed him up when he never even touched the ball, just to claim a first senior goal in a derby I think. More myth creation by the PR machine at the swamp

1-2 cup defeat when Uwe took the lead, but where we were robbed by the dodgy penalty was a great atmosphere but a bitter twist, seem to recall an awful 0-0 draw we ground out where I’m sure Stephen Jordan had a blinder too

I was there for the 6-1, but last years corner flag piss taking in the 2-1 was the best for me, we were coasting from the kick off and with better finishing we’d have hit 5.

Would add, my favourite performance there I hadn’t seen live was the 3-0 win over ‘Moyseys Boys’ utterly dominant. Not seen us lose there since the Tevez Tevez sign him up chants at The GPC when they did us 2-0

Final thought, our performances at the swamp now are reminiscent of a match when they beat us 3-0 I think when they came to Maine Road in the 90s for all our huff and puff we couldn’t lay a glove on them
