Favourite World Cup?

Trying to think the first World Cup I watched in a pub.
I was 18 in the 78 World Cup but cannot remember watching any game in a pub.
Pubs rarely had a telly but also were closed between 2pm and 7pm so afternoon / early evening games would have been missed if they did have a telly.
The first time I recall a TV being put in a pub was for Charles and Diana's wedding in 81.
I know that as when City beat Ipswich in the 81 semi final (in April) i legged it home from the pub to watch MOTD as the pub didn't have a TV but did for the wedding a few months later. I think it stayed in after that

1982
Couple of the best teams to never win the world cup - the great but tragic French team, the wonderful Brazilians
In particular, their wonderful midfields, I could rewatch their games forever just to see their instinctive, mesmeric passing patterns

Several other strong teams - Poland, Belgium, USSR, etc
Some rather classic matches
Controversy
And the bad guys lost!

First one I remember was Argentina 78 (8 years old), not really for the football, just the tickertape

Spain 82 was my proper first one, coming home from school every day and watching a game at 4pm

Tough call between 82/86 & 90 for me

So many really.

Always had a soft spot for;

Mexico '70. First one I remember but the games were on so late that my parents would hunt me to bed at half time.
W. Germany '74. First time I saw a match on a colour TV. Cruyff and that Dutch team and West Germany countering them brilliantly in the final. Poland were great too. Deyna...some player.
Argentina '78: Always loved this one. Especially as I was rooting for Argentina and was old enough to drink...that ticker tape...
Spain '82: That Brazil team man...so much fun to watch but a soft centre. Paolo Rossi.
Mexico '86: Had emigrated to the US by then. Games shown on American TV and being interrupted by ads as they were utterly unfamiliar with the concept of a continuous game without ad breaks. And of course...Maradona. Watched the final in a Spanish bar in New York while drunk as a skunk.
Italy '90: Ireland's magical run to the quarters. Heavily tempered by the death of a great friend of mine in a car accident in Ireland the night before their round of 16 win. Could not enjoy it as a result. Knocked out by Scilacci. (sp)
USA '94: Went to a game: Ireland vs Norway to get to the playoffs in Giants Stadium. Awful game but the 70K plus Irish fans in the stadium went fucking ape after we qualified for the playoffs. To be quickly extinguished by the Dutch in the round of 16. And I also turned down a ticket to see Argentina vs Greece in a group game down the road in Foxboro. How was I to know that that was Maradona's last ever game for them before he was caught for imbibing the old Colombian marching powder? A shame that Argentina didn't go all the way because of it. They were the best team by a street.
Japan/S. Korea '02: Ireland doing well despite the fucking Keane fiasco. Should have made the quarters. The Real Ronaldo. What a player.
Brazil '14: Germany demolishing Brazil. Really thought that Aguero would get a WC medal but he was clearly unfit. Argentina should have won that final if that fucking striker (Higuain) they had could actually hit the target.
