Re: FC United fan's request for fraudulent letters (p14)
Another good letter in the MEN
Ruined Towns
It's a bit rich to read an official from Manchester town hall, deputy chief executive Vicky Rosin, telling the people of Moston and Longsight how to improve their localities (Postbag 26th Jan).
The council's record of care for most of it's neighbourhoods over the last 30 odd years has been disastrous.
Places that were pleasant have become ones that most reasonable people chose to move away from.
I have read in Postbag of people returning to areas they have not seen for years and thinking their towns had been ruined, the last was from a lady returning to Moston from Canada. Very appropriate to the present discussion.
Why not take away the right to grant planning permission away from the council and give it a completely independent body? The town hall would be able to put its case but would be no more favoured than anyone else. Manchester's neighbourhoods are crying out for a deeper understanding and better management.
