Re: FC United fan's request for fraudulent letters (p14)

Another good letter in the MEN

Ruined Towns
It's a bit rich to read an official from Manchester town hall, deputy chief executive Vicky Rosin, telling the people of Moston and Longsight how to improve their localities (Postbag 26th Jan).
The council's record of care for most of it's neighbourhoods over the last 30 odd years has been disastrous.
Places that were pleasant have become ones that most reasonable people chose to move away from.
I have read in Postbag of people returning to areas they have not seen for years and thinking their towns had been ruined, the last was from a lady returning to Moston from Canada. Very appropriate to the present discussion.
Why not take away the right to grant planning permission away from the council and give it a completely independent body? The town hall would be able to put its case but would be no more favoured than anyone else. Manchester's neighbourhoods are crying out for a deeper understanding and better management.

Re: FC United fan's request for fraudulent letters (p14)

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Excellent letter.

Let's look at the Moston issue - the council, wanting to accommodate FCUM, offer them the options of three different sites owned by the council (Wythenshawe Park, Hough End and Moston).
The preferred choice of FCUM is Moston and the council then link it with existing funding of £750,000 awarded to Moston Juniors FC. The council then allow FCUM to spend £200,000 of that funding to prepare for their application to build a stadium on the Ronald Johnson Playing Fields.
The council spend further staff time (and therefore additional costs) on the proposal.

Does anyone reading this really believe that the council's own planning committee (13 councillors sit on the committee, 11 of which are Labour) were going to do anything else other than approve the plans, given the amount of council money already spent on the application??????????

For the record, 3 councillors abstained - both the 2 Lib Dems and 1 Labour. The rest gave the nod of approval.
Democracy at work in 2011? Don't make me fucking laugh.

PS For the record (again) I emailed all three of the abstaining councillors, asking why they abstained. None of the fuckers even gave me the courtesy of a reply!)

Baconfaces action's are disgraceful. It's his fault the glaziers took over and it's his fault FC United was set up. He is a disgraceful human being. I hope he chokes on his expensive lobster dinner and falls down the staircase of his mansion.

There was a bit of anti FC United graffiti on the cabin at the site of FC United's planned stadium, but last week it was removed by some community spirited FCUMers.
Some members of the Moston Liberation Front the next day gave the cabin a fresh lick of paint which was removed and then followed by the MLF's 2nd (and more to the point) attempt.
