What the feck have Manchester City Council been to them then ?
Also, which club at their level truly have a "wealthy backer" ?
They peaked about 15 years ago, when their relatively big support and MCC grants/loans, allowed them to buy promotions via poaching good players from opposing clubs.
There no moans then about "wealthy backers", as they could then pay higher wages than the competition...

I'm actually surprised they haven't deliberately gone bust to shed the debt owed whilst secretly forming a new club - FC United of Moston or some other shite name - and offering to start again in the NW Counties debt free.

IIRC according to @Gary James in his book on Manchester football one of City's directors paid off Ardwick's debts out of his own pocket.
