To be fair Lescott has spent the majority of this season on the bench so can't really argue he deserves a place in the squad.

That being said I'm not certain a guy who will be 35 at the next World Cup is exactly "building for the future". Recalling a 34 year old player who has only played in 18 of his teams 28 games this season really speaks to the lack of quality there is around the England squad at present. I was under the impression that one of the issues with Ferdinand is he needs a while to recover these days between matches, not sure how that will work at a major tournament when you play a fair few games in a very short period of time. If the intention isn't to take him to Brazil then I'd rather we bedded in someone younger now who can contribute at Brazil 2014 and beyond.
 
Ask yourselves this. If the ball had been pumped up in the air towards Torres and camel gob raked his studs down the back off his calf and pushed him over would a free kick have been awarded and would Camel gob been sent off? Now remember this incident happened off the ball which makes the offence even worse in my eyes So he didn't pole axe him, so what, that's irrelevant. He commited an act of violent conduct off the ball and therefore deserved a red card in much the same way that Shrek elbowed the Wigan player off the ball and he received a........oh no he didn't did he.

When it was ignored I was thinking he'd be getting a call up. Baconfaces comments about Rooney last week I felt we're very telling(I don't have a link) but mentioned Rooney doing photos and promo work when on England duty and what a saint he was for doing so given the grief the fa give, had to laugh at that remembering his various ignored misdemeanours.

I think this actually said a lot about modern footballers and their I floated egos who actually feel that they are doing the nation a favour turning out for the national team. Reflected by ROoneys abuse of the ENgland fans as he walked off the pitch at the WOrld Cup. Explains why the likes of Gerard, terry, Rooney, rio and co have a much easier ride than those foreign cheats like Mario and Suarez!
