Fernandinho - 2018/19 Performances

He’s started all 7 league games and played the full 90 in 6 of them, it’s ridiculous. Why did he play 90 minutes at the weekend for example?
I’ve been saying the same thing most of this season. Inexplicable

I think they're going to play Fernandinho as much as possible until January and then get a defensive midfielder in.

IMO Instead of thinking "We've got to make him last a whole season, only play him once a week", instead they're just thinking he's got a 4 month season, and then come January when another player comes in, he can just take a month off and recover from it, recharge before the business end of March/April/May when he'll be vital again.

A less extreme version, they might just be doing the same kind of thing but only until KDB comes back, and once KDB is back he'll get rested and Gundogan/Delph will pop into midfield.

Another thing that is worth remembering is they track everything about the players, from distance covered in games, number of sprints, sprint speeds, heart rate in training, cortisol levels in saliva...if they aren't resting him it might just be because all of the tests are showing he's 100% fit to play, and when his performance metrics drop, then he'll get a break.

I think today’s performance by him shows that you were right and I was wrong

Brilliant today, was everywhere defensively.

Ran the line of the "totting up procedure" but that was a necessity.

Only behind Stones and Laporte for clearances and interceptions and second only to Bernardo for tackles.

I'll leave that last part there for some forum mitglieder...

Definitely not the Dinho of old,but he did fine today.

He's hard as nails,i literally dont think ive ever seen him shirk a challenge or even flinch no matter who the opponent.

Replacing him will not be easy.

Ok. I was 100% convinced he'd be the reason we'd lose. Well done for proving me wrong.

After the first 15 minutes when we struggled with the press, where he was the weakest, he stepped up.

Probably benefited from us controlling things well, but he did his job and clearly rubbed them all up the wrong way which is we needed.

I think the biggest benefit was the fact Stones and Laporte played, so his CB's are better at giving and receiving the ball under pressure, and Bernardo dropped in next to him.

Surround him with players who will always make themselves available for a quick pass under pressure and it makes things much, much easier.

Don't understand how anybody thinks this guy would let us down in these type games or any games.yes he's getting on but he's a monster and a legend at city

Played quite well, but there was a point in the second half when he knew he just didn't have the legs to touch it past the press and move the ball out wide. Instead, he underhit a pass out to Mendy which was easily intercepted and conceded possession. Happens to everyone, I know, but he really needs to be wrapped up in cotton wool for the next fortnight.

Yeah, he's still not great under the press. But we did excellently as a team and especially those three as you say (and Ederson) made a huge difference.

One thing about Dinho - he dosn't forget

Cheap shot kick out from Mane was returned with interest with an elbow to the chops...

similar situation with Diego Costa a couple of years ago when he tried a dirty Joe one after the ball had gone
