So true , we all have our favourite players but i do not understand some of the hate and vitriol towards any player who pulls on a blue shirt , obviously some players disappoint at times , but the match day thread is something to behold for kneejerk reactions.
Man, it blows my mind. That said, the game thread vitriol as bad as it is often actually is based on something that happened (i.e a mistake by a disliked player.)

But it's the pregame thread that often has me rolling on the floor with laughter. Folks predicting gloom and doom because one guy or the other is included or excluded before a single ball has been kicked. Mind boggling stuff :)

I've come to enjoy reading the flapping on the pregame thread. Par for pregame relaxation for me :)

I can only conclude that it's the gassing up of Dihno on here that causes one to reach a conclusion such as the one highlighted.

The above simply does not track the truth.

In the first 2 games of the season, Liverpool and West Ham, Dihno was rested for just returning from Copa.

That aside in both games starting DM Rodrigo. Substitute DM in one of those games Gundogan.

Then against Bournemouth Starting DM: Gundogan, substitute to come in at DM, Rodri. Unused substitute: Fernandihno.

Against Brighton: Starting DM: Rodri, backup DM Gundogan. Worth noting City technically did not have a backup CB on the bench (assuming you are one of those who consider Dihno the starting DM). Laporte gets injured, and Dihno subs in for him.

Next Norwich, starting DM Rodrigo. Unused sub: Fernandihno. Starting CBs Ota/Stones.

Finally, against Shaktar and after an injury to Stones did the backup CB (Fernandihno) take over as a starter. And has started ever since.

Needless to say, on multiple occasions the opportunity to start Dihno had been available and Pep declined. Even when he chose to rest Rodri, he went with Gundogan and left Dihno on the bench.

It's not a matter of opinion, assumption or conjecture, it's undisputed fact that Rodri has been chosen over Dihno consistently for the DM spot.

And that my friend is unlikely to change.

You have only confirmed that Dinho has been eased back into the new season , missing a couple a matches and subsequent games named on the bench , Pep's hand was forced when Laporte was injured , and also when Stones suffered an injury , which is probably nearer the truth. To think Rodri was brought to the club to immediately replace the best defensive midfielder in europe is debatable.

Luckily i attend a lot of games and avoid the drama queens on the match day thread , in fact when i cant get to a game i avoid it like the plague now , there appears to be no middle ground we are either shite or brilliant.

Pep told everyone that Fernandinho was playing CB this season before Laporte got hurt and before Stones got hurt.

Fernandinho confirmed that from day 1 of his preseason he was only playing CB.

He is a Centre-back now and a damn good one in my opinion. We need to adjust our thinking.

Can't wait to see him and Laporte playing next to each other.

You are not going to convince me that Pep brought in Rodri to immediately replace the best defnesive midfielder in europe , Rodri would have normally gradually fed into the team , please show me where the link to Pep clearly stating in pre- season that Dinho will be playing centre back for 2019/20 season

fernandinho on playing at centre-back: “I’m happy playing in this position, alongside these players and this is motivation for me to stay in that way. This change has helped me grow as a player. When you play in different positions you understand the game better..."

“I know what role the holding midfielder should do, the centre-back left or right and full back, it’s all really clear in my head. This has helped me get better. I adapted, playing the way I played. Sometimes we have a specific way to play, that’s all..."

“Defence opens your mind, especially under Pep - you can understand the game easier. We have a lot of meetings - tactics, positioning, moving the ball, passing the ball, which player is free and which player you have to man mark. It helped me."

"We still want to win things. We are passing difficult moments, but we have to keep going. We dropped so many points in the Premier League, but the desire to win trophies should be there, in the heart, mind. We go for the things we can reach.”

“Hopefully [I'll keep playing]. We'll see. To be honest I don’t think about that now. I want to keep playing. I don’t put on myself that I'll play until 40 or something. I'll play as long as I feel good and I can give a good performance back."

The permanent fixture in a defence that has 2 clean sheets in its last 20 games. I dont care if he makes the odd good last ditch defensive play, he's a naff CB.
He is meant to be a backup CB. So I can't expect anymore than he gives. He has been decent. Just unfortunsl
