Shakhter have announced the fee at 40m euros which is £34m, the fee unfortunately seems to be correct.

That is a very serious amount of cash for a 28 year old unproven in the Premiership. He will have very little resale value so he better be good!

Yeah totally agree, and £30m spent on this guy is £30m less that we could spend on a proven world class player.

Just out of interest guys who is driving all this transfer activity? Is it the new manager?
Another fucking WUM out from under the floorboards

If you do watch a little bit more international football, you would know about Fernandinho. You would know this guy is blossoming a little bit later than others, and while playing in the Ukraine, been overlooked by the Brasilian national manager (as often happens). The last two seasons he's been their most important player and Shaktar won over many plaudits for the way they played their attacking-style of football with Fernandinho the main link in their machine. No wonder their manager wouldn't sell him no matter what.
You can't judge the price unless the player performs. Was Kaka worth 50 million when he moved to Real? At the moment of the transfer yes, in hindsight, no. So what does that say about a fee. It's all about how important our management feel he is needed. And I'm pretty much convinced if he nears his role and form as with Shaktar, 30 million will turn out to be a bargain. Especially with Pellegrini at the helm there's enough reason to be very optimistic.
And yes, Txiki and Pellegrini discusses Navas, Fernandinho, probably Isco, Cavani, Thiago, Pepe, and Novaretti as well. Why wouldn't they ...

I've not read all 87 pages (contrary to popular belief I DO have a life!) but it was interesting to read that he was so eager to come to City that he paid, or said he would forego, £4M of the fee, effectively meaning that he paid £4M of his own money to come to us!!

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/fernandinho-keen-join-city-paid-4118506" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... id-4118506</a>

I apologise if, in the previous 87 pages someone has already reported this! :-)

Could not care less about the fee - the lad is a quality player end off.

Funny though how rags were stating what an exceptional player Fernan was when they believed they were getting him in January - but now he has actually signed for the correct club being City, they are saying he is not worth the gamble

Hard pill to swallow is bitterness and jealousy. But at least they have the news that Gollum is bringing in the everton backroom staff to help him at the swamp

I've noticed,Squirty, that it tends to be posters who omit their location.

Either WUM's or rags shitting themselves now Taggart has gone.Take your pick.

Do you really think we just went to Fernandinho and paid the money, didn't even bother asking about the availability of anyone else eg Vidal.

We haven't waited too long for the summer to pan out to see what else was available though have we? Getting players in quick is a double edged sword in that sense. What if Fabregas or someone of a similar ilk were to become available for £25 million?

It would be the equivalent of buying Cheryl Cole a lot of expensive drinks at the beginning of a night (she's great, she'll do the trick just fine, but it'll cost a lot of money and she's getting on a bit), only to see Michelle Keegan come by later on who is just as good looking but a lot younger with a lot more in the tank and is willing to be yours for much cheaper drinks. The leftover money from the drinks you woulda spent on Cheryl could have been put towards a few drinks for Frankie Sandford the next day.

These are not quick transfers, they have been going on for 4 month at least, targets that Bobby was happy with too.

A lucid, articulate and sophisticated analogy.

Apt analogy, which prompted me to do some quick googling at work. Well done sir. My choices would be: Gabrielle Union, Lauren London, then Lacey Banghard.
