Fernandinho (continued)

Re: Fernandinho

Cannot believe his not in the brazil squad. Hope they give him a chance bc he deserves it and it's the signing of the season for me.

Had my doubts about him when we signed him and for the price as well, but what a fantastic player he is and has been so far for us,my only concern is he seems to be playing in every game, would be worried if he picked up any sort of long term injury....

he's playing really really well this season, any sort of long term injury would be a very hard blow for our midfield this season. so lets hope it doesnt happen!

It's a joke that Paulinho is being rated higher by their NT manager

Re: Fernandinho

He's the best central midfielder in the Premier League in my opinion and he's only had 20 games. Imagine how good he's going to be in his second and third seasons...

I don't have too much of a problem with him not being selected, maybe the coach has longer term plan for him. It would be shocking if he didn't get into the WC squad in the Summer though, then I would be miffed.

On a slightly different note I was watching some game over the weekend, can't remember which one it was now, and the commentator said Argentina used 147 or 157 different players in 2013. Maybe the Brazil coach is just sticking to what he knows - could bite him on the arse though in terms of winning the comp. if he doesn't pick the best players.

You'd be digging into League 2 to get 147 English players! It's funny when you watch a team from another country and think "he's a good player" then Google him and he's Argentine. There are bloody loads of good Argentines.

Not sure if this has been posted but what a player he is!

The worrying part of this is it doesn't even include his December player of the month run of games. What a player.

Re: Fernandinho

“I know that the coach [Scolari] has been in Europe recently,

“I’m sure he knows England. He has worked here and knows the reputation of the players and teams that play here.

“Everyone in Brazil knows me because they watch the Premier League and every game that’s shown. When you play well and score goals, then people will talk about you.

“It’s good when you score goals, but I cannot compare myself to Lucas and say it is good for me that I am scoring more goals than him. With each player, you need to do your specific job for the team.

“I am just happy to have scored and that the team won. I hope the whole year can be like this. This season could be the best season of my life and I want to make it happen.

I can tell, Ferna.

Re: Fernandinho

Personally from a selfish point of view I like it when our players dont get called up for the national teams. Feel sorry for Ferna though he deserves it

I think the Argentina thing has more to do with a lack of top quality defensive players, so endless amounts of not quite good enough defenders and central midfielders have gotten a look in. Brazil have a far better variety of good players, but it's still ridiculous that Fernandinho doesn't get a look in, but that's entirely because he doesn't have a bedrock of support back in Brazil championing him. He made his reputation in Ukraine, which the NT just doesn't care about at all. Now he's thriving in the Premier League, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a late call up. I still don't think he'll start, as Scolari has managed to finally get a winning formula so probably won't want to change it, even if Fernandinho is clearly better than Little Paul.
